Why is it legal for one person to hold multiple public offices? For example, recently indicted former Newark, NJ mayor Sharpe James was the mayor of Newark at the same time was a State Senator too.

What are the policies regarding this in other states?

Thank you for any answers.

I am still due for my June car payment, and it will go to 30 days past due on July 25th at which time I will owe two full payments. I've been in contact with my car company (Honda) and have explained my current situation and when I would be able to make a payment. I've had the car 3 years and have gone past 30 days 2 times so this would be the third time. My "advisor" has said once the car payment goes past 30 days it goes to a review board where they can make the decision to repo my car. So my question is: do they REALLY repo your car for being 30 days late or are they just trying to get their money sooner and using a scare tactic? Like I said, I have a decent pay history with them, I've been in contact with them so they know what's going on, I've given them a date when I can make the payment - I'm not hiding or ignoring thier calls. Do they take this stuff into consideration?

I've been contemplating about pursuing a career of some sort and living in Japan for quite a while now. I am an Asian American undergraduate at UF currently majoring in EALL. I am fluent in English and Chinese-Cantonese, but I am not literate in the latter (I cannot read the kanji). I am planning on spending a year in Osaka to study abroad during 2008.

This may be a broad question, but what studies should I be focusing on to get a good career in Japan? I've done alot of research on the subject, and I know that many gaijins first enter the country through various work visas and most predominantly, the JET program. These foreigners usually also go on to become entertainers, English teachers, or bartenders, none of which suit my tastes. My general interests lie with computers for the most part: stuff that involves IT and networking. Grabbing a translation job for a gaming company of some sort would be a dream come true for me, but I'm not sure what current job situation is over in Japan.

A blonde stormed up to the front desk of the library and said, "I have a complaint!"

"Yes, Ma'am?" said the librarian looking up at her.

"I borrowed a book last week and it was horrible!"

Puzzled by her complain the librarian asked "What was wrong with it?"

"It had way too many characters and there was no plot whatsoever!" said the blonde.

The librarian nodded and said, "Ahhh. So you must be the person who took our phone book."

I was just informed by my insurance company that I was at fault in an accident even though I actually wasn't. Basically, we both changed into the same lane at nearly the same time. I merged first then he came in a second later scraping his car against mine. At worst this case should be 50-50 but since I merged in first and was more established I think the blame should go to the other guy.
I then received a call from my agent who said the other guy claimed he was in the same lane the whole time and I simply hit him. Based on his story my insurance company determined it was my fault.
My question is how can i challenge this? How can someone sitting in an office a thousand miles away make two phone calls and determine who was at fault? The guy that hit me lied and my insurance company chose to take his word over mine without any evidence. Is there anything I can do?

thanks

I recently finished my Freshman Year of High School (I made it through!) So in my 10th grade year, by the end, I can take the Running Start exam. Running Start is a program in which high school students can take college level classes at a local community college.

Starting this August to June I'm going to be preaparing to raise my writing and reading standards to college level. I have a Grammar and Composition book by Prentice-Hall which will help my grammar and as for reading I 've been reading as much as possible (Jane Eyre, Wiuthering Heights, Great Expectations...etc)

Questions:

1. Any advice to get my writing to a college level?
2. Any advice to get my reading skills to a college level?
3. Any advice in general?

I got a phone call last night from the police who said they had my husband. Aparently he was drunk and passed out in front of an apartment building. Some residents there called the police. Luckily for him (or perhaps not) the country we live in takes a fairly lenient view of these things, and apart from calling me to take him home, nothing will happen to him.
The fact that he is employed in a white collar job seems to mean that his behaviour can be excused.

I got dressed and got my 3 year old daughter out of bed took a taxi to where the police were waiting. My husband was passed out on the pavement in front of the building. I talked and yelled at him trying to wake him up......when the policemen pulled him to his feet he could walk and we got him into the taxi and home.

I'm not blonde, but my friends think I'm a bimbo!!! Personally, I think its a steerotype, some blondes are dumb, some blondes are not! I may not be the brightest bulb in the bunch, but people think I don't have any brain cells. Seriously, what do you think makes up a dumb blonde (or brunette, or redhead, or black haired) ?
