I **love** cars. I really do. But as much as I do, in light of fuel prices and dependency, it disturbs me that there seems to be a horsepower war among manufacturers, and consumers are loving it. Do we not understand the relationship between power and consumption? How can we fix this as a society?

In all seriousness, I have a 1992 Mazda with 92 bhp (when it was new...). Admittedly, it's as slow as you might imagine, but I get as much as 36mpg (highway). Today you can barely find a car that gets 36 mpg, now 15 years later!

Yes, I know there *are* cars that get better mpg... But do we have an obsession that needs a cure, or am I off base here?

Hi, I live in the city, grow flowers so don;t want tons of shade, but with our city fence ordinance, we can't build a fence higher than 5-6 feet and if I could plant some small type trees about 4-5 ft away from my back yard fence, it would give me privacy from the canopy of the tree. I would like non-deciduous, but it seems most evergreen grow small at the top and I need more like a normal tree with the canopy as privacy about top of the fence level and above but not huge so that it covers my yard in shade. I hope you can understand this ??? Any suggestions from those who really know trees ?

As a teenager I had bad acne, and never touched my face, but still ended up with a lot of scarring. Did any one have this problem and was able to eliminate them or significantly reduce them? Iam married with 3 children so I live a normal life. But I still hate to see these marks on my face, and my long time dream is to get rid of them or at least reduce them somewhat.

We have found patches of this stuff on our lawn and have no idea what it is. It appears in the mulched area near our bushes. It looks sort of porous - like globs of light-colored oatmeal stuck together with a gold-yellow colored type of... goo, for lack of a better word. My mom thinks it's cat vomit, but I've never seen cat vomit of that shape and color.
