Power. Knowledge is power. If you are thinking, that means you arent being influenced by others. Dont believe a word anyone says to you until you research it yourself.

A different or new thought comes up from nowhere and all of a sudden.... I believe this is what is meant by 'enlightenment' and why meditation is held in such high esteem.
On the other hand, it could also lead to confusion and procrastination that can make us lose opportunities often by default.
Indeed, thinking can be constructive or destructive.... nevertheless, powerful either way!!

Despair, perspective, all manner of spinoffs to thinking a lot, some 'gains', some probably more challenging to think of as gains.
But a better question might be, what do you lose when you don't think much?

Who knows better than the great philosophers the reasons we must think a great deal?
Descartes quote:
I think therefore I am.
This is the basis for all thinking - you must first recognize your existence.
Socrates quotes:
The unexamined life is not worth living.
Know thyself.
These quotes show that in order to get the most out of your life, you must think and learn about yourself.

It depends on what you're thinking (contemplating) about. If you're dwelling on your mistakes, it's highly self-destructive. If you're going over how you made a mistake so as to learn from it and improve yourself, then by all means do it, but don't beat yourself up over it. You'll make new mistakes soon enough! Focus your energies on becoming the person you were made to be and you won't waste much time daydreaming.
Contemplating Lord God Almighty's awesome nature and love is the greatest thing a person can consider!

depends what you think about and what conclusions you reach.
depends if you are willing to see the both sides of an argument or if you are just devising new ways to justify your own perspective.
