My boyfriend and I are having a debate on this color. I said this color is orange and he said "it is a shade of yellow". Please tell me what color this really is. Thank you!

Think of it this way. There are different ways that we can see colour, the main one if from the sun.
The light, which is made up of those colours of the rainbow, comes down, hits an object and certain colours are kept by the object and others are reflected off of it. When more than one colour is reflected, then it mixes to form something else, and what you have is one of those. It is made up of yellow with a tinge of red.
If yellow is just pure yellow, then you have orange, if you see that there are three colours, red yellow and blue, then it is a yellow with a bit of red. If you believe in other things then it is a shade of orange, though not pure orange and not pure yellow.

But then, why is it imporant? You just want to use it to argue huh?

Orange is a shade of yellow (and red)
You are both not wrong though most people would call this orange.

Mine has been a royal blue for all of my existence. it particularly is a shade that flatters my pores and skin, in accordance to compliments i've got gained over the years. It grow to be the colour I wore, at my sons' first wedding ceremony. And he could no longer have confidence his mom grow to be actual donning a gown. And he complimented me on how amazing I appeared, numerous situations. i assume i might concur with the descriptions above for that shade. i'm no longer impatient, with others who've distinctive evaluations from my own. As what an uneventful place it may be, if everybody theory alike, and did no longer have a distinctive view to share!

It isn't just one colour. I can see orange and yellow and pale green, so I guess you are both right, but it's mostly orange.
