"Astral Ids" ;~) Funny story and I can relate. As a teenager, I once went to a friends Pentecostal church. The minister kept saying " Someone here needs to be saved! Please stand up" I wouldn't budge, but my friend kept poking me., and I thought she'd physically push me into standing! I just couldn't go back!

If they teach the truth, and not opinion, if what they say is based on the greater weight of the scripture---I am all for it.
If they only do things for tradition sake whether it be wrong or right---they will not see me again.

I am Christian. I grew up Mormon being told I was in the "true" Church. I could never get past their belief of polygamy in heaven. Eventually I left the church and started looking and praying to find the true church. I never got a direct answer about the "true" church and I never fit into any Church I attended because what I was taught as a child. I started thinking there was no church for me but called one last church to ask the minister questions. It was the First Christian Church. I started attending and I am a member today. I needed an open-minded church. I have learned there are others, such as the United Methodist Church, where I might have been comfortable. My advice is to attend Christian Churches and see where you feel comfortable. Do not give up your search. There is a church for you.

Yes, even though I'm not Christian. I've been to a Catholic church, a Lutheran church, a Young Life gathering, and a Methodist church. I grew up in going to a Christian Science church.
The Catholic church was the biggest and most impressive of any church I've been to. The choir wasn't bad, and the gospel was fairly quick. I haven't been back, though, since I'm not Catholic.
The Lutheran and Methodist churches are pretty indistinguishable, to me. Nothing special, though the Lutheran one was fairly new and had comfortable seating. Both of the sermons were long-winded, they've run together in my mind.
The Young Life gathering was pretty awkward. I had to keep smiling and nodding. People asked about my relationship with God, which I thought was very rude, since it's none of their business. But there was food, so it wasn't all bad.
I don't really have anything against the churches I've been to, but obviously as a non-Christian I wasn't particularly inspired. I won't be returning to any of them. I only went out of politeness when I was invited. All I learned was that I'm really, really glad that I'm not doing that every week.

I have visited a few church's in my time. I have funny experience that happened when I visited a Pentecostal church. I went there to see what happened in one of there meetings as a friend of mine said she found them uplifting. there was good music and singing. Then the pastor got up and said some thing along the lines of "does anyone feel the spirit overpowering them to speak." nothing happened. the pastor waited. and still nothing happened. then he asked for those who wished to be healed to come down, a few people did. then he touched then on the head and said something like receive the spirit and be healed. nothing happened. he went down the whole line and nothing happened.
The he said the devil is among us tonight. Then he pointed at me and said some thing like " you have brought the devil with you and it is stopping gods spirit from working."
I left then. I could help but laugh all the way home. I just seemed so ridiculous to me
I never went back to a Pentecostal church again as i didn't want to interrupt there feeling the spirit.

I have visited Methodist ,Catholic ,Born Again ,and Presbyterian churches .
Listened to the sermons and found that ALL churches Ask for money At every service .but the born agains are really scary .I think they are a cult ,with the hand raising ,trembling ,shaking and acting that they PUT ON. I could not wait to get out of there .It was like sitting in a mental institution and I was the only normal one .

I have visited some different ones over the years. In truth, some are dead. I won't go to them. (they just go through the motions.... you see no fruit). I have been to some where I have doctrinal differences (with different beliefs). I recently visited one I really loved. They had wonderful praise and worship (easy to enter into God's presence), an excellent Bible based message, and the people were real... not being Sunday Christians. If I lived closer, I would go there all of the time.

Yes, i was raised catholic and i found the masses really boring. As an adult i can make that decision not to attend it so thats good.
I did attend some christian churches. One of them had people in the pews saying: ""yes..yess'' or ''come on brother...come on'' to whatever the pastor says.I felt like i was in some kind of freak show and needless to say i never went back.
Then i attended some other christian ministry..an evangelical one.Boy...the pastors talked about homosexuals and the baptists and catholics who got it all wrong. It was like sitting down to someone addressing a dooms day cult. And they encroached on my personal life alot and started assigning a ''shepard''(one of the more senior christians) to ''guide me''.It was so offensive and belittleing.
I learnt that christianity itself is not for me.sorry but i need to live a life grounded in common sense.

Yes, I have visitied other churches and I liked them. I wouldn't attend them regularly because God called me and placed me in service in the church where I have become a member of the congregation http://www.alcf.net
What I learned about the other churches I attended was that they had different styles of worship and teaching but that the message was the same because they all taught from the Bible.

In 34 years I have visted many other churches.
Maybe 100 or more, my Dad is a preacher. We traveled a lot.
I liked some. If I lived in the towns they were in I probably would go to some.
