Energy experts tell us to replace regular incandescent lightbulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs, but it seems hard to justify spending $15 on a lightbulb. A 60 W incandescent bulb costs 50 cents and has a lifetime of 1000 hours. A 15 W compact fluorescent bulb produces the same amount of light as a 60 W incandescent bulb and is intended as a replacement. It costs $15 and has a lifetime of 10,000 hours. Compare the life-cycle costs of 60 W incandescent bulb to 15 W compact fluorescent bulbs. The life-cycle cost of an object is the cost of purchasing it plus the cost of fueling and maintaining it over its useful life. Which is the cheaper source of light and which the more expensive? Assume electricity costs $0.10/kWh. Be sure to compare the two over equal time spans.

We have a house that has been given to us but is in a bad state of disrepair. Structurally its fair but the roof is going to need professional tlc. We are prepared to gut the majority of the house and bring it back to its former glory ourselves but have no clue about what to expect from roofers. Should we expect to have to pay for a quote? What kind of contract or guarantee should we expect? What kind of costs are involved for a partial new roof versus an entire new roof etc. Are there any good information websites to help us with our research that you can point us to?

We are fairly new to this whole thing and would prefer to not be ripped off or get shoddy work done. Plus being inexperienced we don't know if there are any pitfalls that people have faced that we haven't considered. Any suggestions or testimonials are most welcome. thanks

Is the dollar amount per year that you are eligible to recieve for social security on their yearly update given in todays dollars or future inflated dollars?
Example, I want to take social security in 12 years at the age of 62. Social security says I will recieve 16,000 per year. Is the 16,000 in todays dollars or do you multiply that by 3% per year for inflation for 12 years to get the amount you will recieve in 2019 dollars??

Whatever your view of the terrorist organisation Al Quaeda it must be said that they have a particular talent in finding and exploiting weaknesses within the UK in order to further their terrorist ambitions.

The latest example of this is the way they were able to get 'sleepers' into the country by exploiting the National Health Service's reliance on foreign trained doctors.

Can you think of any other weaknesses within the UK's social, economic or political systems which Al Qaeda can exploit in the future to further their aims?

Currently I am 100% invested in agressive Mutual funds and now I want to rebalance my portfolio so that I can draw income. My question is - how do I / what is the best way to reallocate the IRA portion of my portfolio. I.e., CD's, short term bond funds, bank loan funds? Which is the most safe and produces the best income. Yeah I should ask an FA but I like to handle my own money...
Thanks

I witnessed my dog being hit by a car today. He's alive, thank God but with a broken. The ball of the hip is out of the socket. Repair costs could reach 4K. Since I'm broke a friend that has a dog (18 years old) that broke his hip about 13 years ago, says my dog's hip should heal itself. He was told this by an old vet . It worked for him. I wonder if there are other opinions and advice, however.

I would like to know if all loners really like to be alone or deep in their heart they actually want to have friends and people to be around them.
In my secondary school I have clique and I felt that my whole class is my friends, I can communicate with almost all of them. However I really behave like a loner now in my college, I have no clique in class and totally a loner. Most of the time during lecture I will always sit alone as other ppl just sit with their clique or sits is reserved for their clique's ppl. Most of the time I will be sitting alone, but deep inside I actually long for a best friend or a clique. Sometime when i sit with them and if they see any other ppl sit alone they will tease them for being loner and have no friends. It sounds so pathetic, I'm sure they also said the same thing to me behind my back whenever I am alone.
I don't think I am going to force myself to get a common topic with them. Although the feeling of being alone is awful but I know it will end.

Let's face it - people are omnivores. We are designed to eat meat by nature. It is purely a choice to be a vegan or vegetarian...

So if you were to go hunt yourself or fishing or whatever, would you eat the animal then, since it is not being done on a mass slaughter scale?

What about fresh road kill since the animal is going to die anyway? (That sounds gross I know... but it DOES happen)

Or are you opposed to eating any meat no matter how the animal died?

My husband is in the Air Force, he's an E-3. I have been recently thinking about joining the Air Force myself, I've had schooling so I will be an E-2 when I go to basic training. I am hoping to get a medical job, and my husband's a fire fighter. What are the chances of us getting the same base if we file for joint spouse?

Randolph, a quality post scorer already found a new home in NY. KG, Jermaine O'neal and Gasol are the top names left in that department. I know Bulls GM John Paxson drafted Noah, but he wont develop into a scorer anytime soon. Paxson also doesnt want to trade several of our key guys for one. He just denied contacting Memphis for Gasol yesterday. Are the Bulls gonna have that low post scorer they need in time for next season, or are they gonna be relying on jump shooting all next season again?
