In my experience, not really. But if you're caught you and your parents face a lot of problems! Fines and possibly jail time.
The ultmiate irony? You're old enough to go off to war and die at 18 but not old enough to drink alcohol!

No drinking until 21...some do drink anyway. Nothing about this country is Middle Eastern...if you don't believe me then move to one and compare notes.
