While married, my wife signed up for a 2 year contract with Cingular. Before our divorce she extended it another 2 years without my knowledge. (after our divorce, she de-activated her phone so I am the only one on the plan) I was expecting it to expire this July, and was just going to let it terminate, then start a new plan with a competitor. Now I am being told it carries for 2 more years.....
I don't want to be a jerk and have it affect her credit, I just want a new plan with another (any other) provider.
Have you personally terminated a contract like this?
Can you tell me what my rights are, as a consumer?
I did not sign the initial contract, nor have I signed or agreed to any extension.
They don't even mail monthly bills to me, because my name is not on their contract.
Please advise me and not only will you receive 10 points, you will be helping another person regain their sanity.
thank you kind stranger ~
