My 10 month old son has yet to laugh. He will giggle sometimes, but he smiles, jabbers and squeals when happy or tickled. What's going on?

Sounds like you have a normal baby to me. Laughing is not something a baby just does for no reason. If he laughs when tickled or smiles and jabbers when happy sounds like you have a great and happy little boy.

Have fun with him and try to worry less. Infanthood, babyhood and then childhood slips away so fast. Before you turn around good he will have graduated, married and have kids of his own. Enjoy every day, every minute of their lives.

God Bless your family.

well thats fine isnt it...a 10 month old giggling and sqealing, jabbering etc is perfectly acceptable for his age and stage....remember no child is normal EVERY child is an individuall this is what i always have to 'hammer' home to parents, every child develops at its own rate and will have different 'norms'and reach different stepping stones at their own time, there is no point worryin or makin the child feel anxious.....your child is your child; he is an individual and if he giggles instead of laughs there is no problem with that.....how would you define a laugh anyway?
i think a giggle and gurgling and squealing is about average for a ten month old. Does he look at your (maintaining eye contact) has he had all his checks with the doctor (e.g. autism etc) to be honest your child sounds absoulutly fine...enjoy his age as it happens!!!

Giggling and squealing are forms of laughter. Sounds like he is normal if he's doing that :)

Sounds normal to me. I don't think my oldest really laughed until after she was one. If he's responding, and it sounds like he is, he's fine.
