I'm in a living situation with my mom who is disabled. She is divorced and I am single, never married. Until one of us has a life change we live together because we enjoy one another and I help her. I am intelligent, cute, outgoing, fun and have many great qualities, no trouble getting men interested in me. Problem is that my mom is extremely conservative about men & women- she doesn't think that two people who make a date from the internet should even meet for drinks together (b/c that's drinking with a stranger, very bad according to her). It seems like drinks is the common way people first meet up from the internet--you know who forbid me meeting for dinner with someone (a stranger)- In her book that equals major romance- well not in today's world and she doesn't get it that it dinner is a common first date!
She says that she won't live with someone who does internet dating. I'm stuck, because if I do it, it will bring an all out war and she will cut me out of her life. Advice ?

People who have part time jobs are really s.o.l. when they have jury duty. They theoretically can't be fired, but they lose their hourly pay and it can really be an economic hardship, can't it? I loved doing it now that I have a full time job and get pd. anyway, but when I used to be part time, I'd lose $100+ a day and get "paid" $12 for jury duty!! Then i was so mad when the case was a slip and fall. There I was being used and abused so someone could get rich quick for falling. Justice???
And no, I wouldn't want 12 morons deciding my case. I think a panel of judges would be just fine.

I've had two lately.
The first was when we went up to my brother's house. We got the kids out of the car and were unloading the stuff, and I couldn't find the diaper bag. We were over an hour from home, so big problem. Well, we went in the house, and I was all freaking out, then I dropped what I was carrying and found the diaper bag on my shoulder. Duh!
Then this weekend we were at a friend's house for dinner. One of the other kids dropped her plate on the floor. She made the comment, "Well at least I didn't drop it on the baby." Suddenly I started looking around frantically for the baby and couldn't find him anywhere. Then I looked down, and he's in my arms drinking his bottle. Double duh!!

I'm pretty sure science teachers all accross America are faced with this :
Many eager little Christians, filled with religious doctrine, who are absolutely shocked when they start learning about Evolution.
How should a teacher respond to :
" But the Bible says we come from Adam and Eve and they were not APES!!"?
While I kinda recoil at the teachers going " Well, the Bible is wrong" (besides the whole angry christian parents demanding their resignation or lawsuits nightmares), I don't think they should lie either.
What do you think is the best, gentle professional way to deal with this dilemma?

We have been marries now for 4 years and have a 2 year old son; she has been going through post partum depression since the birth of our son, but was really good at hiding it. I feel like I did all of the right things and told her every day I love her and that she is the most beautiful women I have ever seen I’m a cuddle bug and MEANT IT. 3 weeks ago I found out she was having an affair with one of my friends for 6 months; she says she’s sorry and she will never do it again and says she doesn’t even know why she did it and never wants to lose me and I truly love her and want to make it work; I just can’t seem to move past the hurt, betrayal, and lack of trust.

Should I give her another chance or will she just do it again?

i found that most people seem to think dutch and english are alike. i was wondering where this comes from. i myself am dutch, i speak fluent german aswell as english. and i personally feel dutch and english are nothing alike. theyre not even closely related as i found that english much more resembles french

ifact, gving it some more thought, i can only think of one dutch word that was adopted into english. Bulwark. and its not a word used daily.

on top of that, word order and grammer are nothing alike. english has a set word order, and set time expressions for certain conditions. dutch alows much more freedom in where to place words in sentances, and using different time conjugations in dutch might not make a difference.

where do brits get the idea that dutch is similar to english?

I have heard some married people say that it's okay to "take" it. Some say that this is actually rape--and obviously illegal. Where is the line drawn? Does it depend on the mood of the other spouse?
