I know that not all white people feel this way but I was reading an article about the increase of black enrollment in higher education due to public assistance, and some of those in the forum were incredibly angry. I personally think that most things today have to do with class rather than race but I don't understand why some white people get so upset about affirmative action tactics...is it not enough that to be born white, male, and wealthy in America is a ticket for success? We all like to believe that we live in a meritocracy but it just isn't true.

Why do some whites feel so threatened? They are the MAJORITY, always have been and probably always will be. The civil rights movement was only about 50 years ago when EVERYONE started getting equal treatment...how can 50 years compete with over 300 years of whites being able to succeed without someone trying to tear them down?

I'm not racist, just stating facts...

I was eating dinner at the table with hubby's family when his aunt (whom I'd never met before )says to me,"You know,you're very pretty!"..I smiled and said "thank you"..She then says"Are you mixed with something?".I was so taken a back by this silly b*tch that I didn't say anything.My closet racist mother in law then replies"Yes,she's an eighth Indian,Isn't that right?"............I lost my apetite I was so pissed and speechless I just sat and sipped my soda the rest of the meal! I do NOT look mixed I have dark brown skin and thick lips! What should I have said?

I have a Packard Bell - i_connect Which was bought in 2000.
It has a intel celeron 700MHz Processor with a 10 GB HDD running on 319mb of Ram, Recently running on Windows ME, i have now Updated to XP :)

When i Start up my PC, You Hear The Monitor Waking up, And Then The Tower Beeps Once, Then The Black 'Packard Bell' Screen is displayed. At this point absolutely nothing happens, My Hdd makes a few noises, but it's as if the pc has frozen, except i can't get it to work properly.

I Hope The Info I Have Given Is Usefull...

i am trying to decide between pc3200 and pc4000
my system is not new and i noticed that pc4000 costs much more..

How come it is hard to find anything on crimes committed by people who work in the judicial system? Is this kept hush hush because of the back lash it could cause? It seems like every time I look at CNN there is a story about some police officer or lawyer or judge who has been charged with breaking the law yet there is no info I can find when I google how much of this really goes on! I have read though that less then half of the crimes committed by these people are actually reported! I know they are human beings to but if you take that oath then you should be held to a higher standard then the general population! Because these people have the ability to ruin a persons life on a whim if they want! I know from from people that I know that work in the system and others that have been charged with B.S. (and I know it is B.S.!) because it makes they official look good even though it is at the expense of anothers life! I know there are a lot of honest ones out there but there are bad ones!

My mother wants to get a divorce from my father. My father and his family for the past 14 years have been verbally and emotionally abusive towards me and my mother. Recently my mother went and spoke to a lawyer about how she can go about with a divorce. The lawyer told her that if she did plan on getting one,then she might end up with no money. See, my mother has no college education and her income is much lower than what my father makes. There is still a mortgage on the house, so she wouldnt be able to afford that. She says the whole process of divorce also costs a lot of money and she would be stuck and end up with nothing. I told her that I'd split the rent with her if she got an apart.but she said no.I'm moving out for college, and my father is planing on moving in to my room. I dont see why money is such a big deal and why she cant just start over. She's still young and she has plenty of time to build a happy life.
