Go to crucial, and run the scan. It will tell you exactly what you have, and what you can put in.

Word to the wise:

While memory can be mixed and matched to some degree, sometimes your computer is happier if you just add whatever you have in the PC at the moment, in pairs. If you have two slots open, and two filled, the scan will tell you what you have filled, and purchase those exact same types of modules to add to the other two slots.

Again, you can get something a little faster, but your computer may protest in the form of system hangs, etc.

Otherwise, you could replace what you have in the box with new ones.

I wouldnt get 3Gb for a 3 year old comp. Windows go much faster after 2Gb anyway. For the type of RAM the PC4000 is better but the 3200 will work fine. Remember to get the right type of Mhz or your motherboard wont accept it.

First off, make sure that your computer can handle PC3200...you might only be able to get PC133. Go to http://www.crucial.com and select your computer or motherboard manufacturer from the drop down box and then the model. It will tell you exactly what types of RAM your computer can take.

Just go with the PC 3200. Your system most likely supports up to PC 3200 anyway and like you said PC 4000 is a little more expensive. You will not see a very noticeable gain going to PC 4000 unless you plan to overclock your ram.
