I'm taking AP English Language next year (11th grade), and for our summer assignments, we get to pick one of the books we're going to read ourselves. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a good book that is enjoyable to read that also has potential to write a very good paper about?

They are on the other side of the world. Why on earth are they considered a threat? If we made peace with them and maintained a friendly relationship wouldn't it benefit us? Yea I know that Iraq is what some people will say, but in response if open lines of communications were made with Iran (which is shia) then that would surely produce a more positive outcome for the US in Iraq. Can also say the nuclear thing, but doesn't Israel have an arsenal of nuclear weapons. Well now on Israel, Iran supposedly said to wipe Israel off the map, but why does that concern America? Isn't Israel’s army the 5th strongest in the world? Can’t they stand up for themselves? Why lose more American men? Who is the real threat to the survival of the human race; Iran (with no nuclear weapons) or other nations in that region with an entire arsenal of un-inspected nuclear and chemical weapons? What do you guys think and how do you think as citizens we can improve relations with Iran and other nations?

I try to be nice to my husband's ex and she just flat out refuses anything to do with me. I stay out of the child support/visitation arrangements between she and my husband because that part isn't any of my business. It's between the two of them to work out just like it would have been if he and I never married. I try to include her daughter in things, and she gets angry about that. I mailed my step-daughter a birthday card in August and signed it from her sisters (my husband and my children) and the witch called me a week later to say that she would prefer I said "Half-sisters." I don't ask my husband to say anything to her because there should not be extra strain on their relationship for my step-daughter's sake. Earlier tonight, I called the woman to ask her to do a favor for me so I could do something from the girls to my husband for Father's Day and she got crabby again. I don't want to say anything that will add more stress to the situation..

I'm just wondering, honestly, how in the 21st century in the most technologically advanced country that human kind has ever seen, polls still show that somewhere around 50% of American citizens still believe that the entire universe was created by an omniscient god in 7 days. How is this possible? I assume there is just a basic lack of education regarding the natural sciences, but I am stunned. It is one thing to be a spiritual or religious person (in fact, i encourage it, it's an important aspect of a balanced life), but to essentially spit in the face of the past 200 years of well established scientific research just so you can be more pious or accepted within certain organizations boggles me. Seriously, can anyone fill me in on this? It's killing me!

Serious answers only please. I.E. No 14 year-olds who think they have been re-born.

I'm giving her great food. its meant for Police dogs actualy its like 15 bucks..and im giving her a vitamin that she actually LOVES! so im excited she doesnt mind it...but yea, i want to get her something MORE..to give her a REALLY shiney coat....what can i get to put on her paws..to keep them soft and smooth... i hear they sell stuff at petsmart...and i checked it out..but it smells like crap. So i was thinking about maybe coco butter....that or shea butter..what do you guys think...PS.. DO NOT TELL ME NOT TO USE STUFF ON HER PAWS.. ITS MY DOG. I DO WHAT I PLEASE....thanks! since ppl love to tell me NOT to use things like this on my dog... i have seen dogs paws before...they were ROUGH and splitting...

i am a newly trained swim lesson instructor and my lessons start tomorrow! my supervisor chose me to teach the parent/infant classes and i am seriously freaking out about it! i am a really soft spoken person and i really dont like "performing/presenting" in front of ppl. i could have handled the kids just not the parents. i want know what "songs" i could sing and the drills that i could teach along with them. any advice at all would be greatly appreciated! thanx!
