They are on the other side of the world. Why on earth are they considered a threat? If we made peace with them and maintained a friendly relationship wouldn't it benefit us? Yea I know that Iraq is what some people will say, but in response if open lines of communications were made with Iran (which is shia) then that would surely produce a more positive outcome for the US in Iraq. Can also say the nuclear thing, but doesn't Israel have an arsenal of nuclear weapons. Well now on Israel, Iran supposedly said to wipe Israel off the map, but why does that concern America? Isn't Israel’s army the 5th strongest in the world? Can’t they stand up for themselves? Why lose more American men? Who is the real threat to the survival of the human race; Iran (with no nuclear weapons) or other nations in that region with an entire arsenal of un-inspected nuclear and chemical weapons? What do you guys think and how do you think as citizens we can improve relations with Iran and other nations?

Right now they're a pain in the as*, but they are working their way to becoming a threat, or it seems that they are trying to. The question is: if Iran gets nuclear weapons, can they be trusted not to use them for other than self defense.

Talking might help, but talking hasn't always helped in the past. Talking helped somewhat in our relations with the Soviet Union, but it never completely stopped the threats. Then there was the most famous "talks" between the British and Hitler just before WWII; Hitler talked nice, but the big war started shortly after when Hitler invaded Poland. There have been talks between Israel and the Palestinians, which haven't seemed to help much.

Iran is a joke to the U.S. Even if Iran got an attack off, the States have such a huge military power that they could easily take over or even vaporize Iran. Plus the U.S. has the U.N. on its side. America wouldn't even have to mobilize troops, they already have them next door in Iraq. All they would have to do is cross the border. And Im from Canada so I have a neutral point of view on things.

the relations with Iran will never improve as long as they ignore the requests from the rest of the world to stand down on their nuclear weapon developement. They are not only a threat the Israel but to the U.S. as well. There is no reasoning with religious zealouts. Funny how left wingnuts cry about religion in the U.S. but you never hear them complain about the facist radical Islam movement in the world that wants the U.S. and our allies gone.

Ask Japan. We didn't "make nice", try to find diplomatic solutions, of kiss their behind. We defeated them. We utterly, unquestioningly, no doubts about it defeated them.

Then we made nice, gave them a way to rebuild their society, and became allies.

You don't "make peace" with a country who is vowing to destroy you or your allies. You defeat them. Then you can make peace.

Yes, Iran is a threat to the entire world.
