There is usually a little room for adjustment at the base of the seat assembly, where it bolts to the bowl. Try loosening the screw/nuts, move the whole thing forward as far as you can, and then re-tighten the screw/nuts. Hopefully, this will be enough to let the lid lean back, and not fall forward.
You can get a little more space, if need be, by slipping the tank back just a bit... hehehe don't forget to drain the tank first before trying to make this adjustment! hehehe

Now, if the toilet itself is tilted forward so much that the seat falls, then you need to level the bowl itself.

Keep Toilet Seat Up

I've always thought that men should put the seat down. Men don't HAVE to lift the seat to pee...they can be more careful. However, most women can't sit on the rim of the toilet without falling in, and it's not fair for them to have to lower the seat because their husbands are too lazy to do it when they're finished peeing. In this case (since you're having guests), I'd say go out and buy a new (cheap) toilet seat.

They sell a toilet seat hook online like for $10, it is a plastic strap with a hook and suction cup. The hook end grabs the seat and the suction cup attaches to your tank. Just google "toilet seat hook".

You can put something in the hinges to make the joint tighter( like a piece of paper, for instance), so the joint isn't so loose.
