Someone asked a question recently if it was ok that they allow their children to pee in the yard when they are swimming in the pool. One thing I hate more than anything is getting the house all wet and walking into a cold air conditioned house. I think it is perfectly acceptable to pee in ones yard as long as there is a fence or a shed to pee behind. I've even done this a few times while I am working in my garden. I am curious how many other ladies pee in their yard instead of going in the house? Do you let your children too?

I have 3 y/o fraternal twin girls. One acts like a princess, the other like a boy. She dresses like a boy, runs like a boy, likes boy things, etc. I don't by any means encourage this, but I do allow her to wear shirts with baseballs on them and jean shorts, allow her to play with tractors, etc., because that's what she likes. She does have dolls, play dress up clothes, but she doesn't really like them. A lot of people seem to think that I should take all of the boy things away from her and make her act like a girl, but I don't see that this will have any effect on her but to cause confusion later on in life. If she is 3 and has been doing this since she was 2, I think it was inherent, and I just feel that taking away these things from her will do more damage than good. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Seems to me, we're damned if we do and damned if we don't.
People want us to step up and be the awesome country that we are by helping other countries out and ****, but then when we try to liberate another country, people get pissed like we should mind our buisiness or somthing.
Maybe people just love to hate America. I don't like people who hate America, especially the ones that still call themselves Americans.

I am the mother / step-mother of 3 girls (ages 23, 15, 10). I stopped spanking the middle girl last year and her behavior has deteriorated. She is not doing her chores, she has become rude, she misses curfew, her grades have slipped. I know that much of this is normal teen behavior. I also know other ways of discipline; but she is not responding to grounding, loss of priviledges, lectures, or much else. I have also been consistent with the groundings and such; she abides by them but no change in behavior.

Please do not misunderstand. She is not horrible. She is still a good, sweet girl. I am venting frustration.

Over my objection, my husband spanked her; same way he did when she was younger. Across his lap, with his hand.

Strangely, it worked. There has a been a marked improvement. He says that I should not hesitate to spank her too as it has been my job traditionally to discipline the girls. But is she not too old? How old is too old?
