For your daughter's first birthday you should throw her a party. This party should included lots of balloons, family members and friends. Have a clown and some zoo pets there, such as ducks, pigs, horses..etc. Invite someone to take pictures the whole time of the party. Order two cakes, one for your daughter and the other for everyone else. Take the cake that you ordered for your daughter and place it in a pool( new small pool of course) in the middle of the yard ( no water of course) and let your daughter eat and have the time of her life, while the other family members and friends takes pictures and enjoy celebrating her first birthday. Hope this helps with some ideas at the very least.

Maybe- this will help. Invite all your friends' with the same age of your daughters' have the mom's bring a little gift, and take pictures. Your daughter won't remember her 1st. b-day. But as she gets older, u can show her the pic's. u took. Let her sit on the table(with you holding her or someone eles so u can take the pic.) then, let her dig in the cake with her hands, I bet she would love that. babies like to make messes, also it will be memorable for both.

memorable for who cuz i am sure you are aware that she wont remember any of it right? The first bday is a bunch of fun, if its in the summer just invite people over and have something outside, BBQ or just a backyard party. If her bday falls in the winter then have it someplace kid and adult friendly - not chuck e cheese, that place is not fun for adults! My son slept thru his first bday party and my daughter hasn't got a clue what we did at hers unless she sees the pictures. Just have a good time and celebrate with family and friends.

Bring family members with invitations. Throw a party and video camera it give her lots of gifts and spoil her on that day. Hug and kiss her tell her you love her. At night sing a beautiful song. Give her a nice cake.
Good luck!

Baby won't remember it. Invite the family, have a party, give the baby her own cake & ice cream. Take pictures of her diving into it.
Buy her some presents, and get pictures of her trying to open them, too.

A baby's first bithday is only for the parents. A one year old just does not care and will not remember.
I argue with my wife about this constantly, she wants these big parties. You are doing it for yourself. Oh, and trust me, none of your friends want to come to your kids first birthday either.
