If you are just using it at home, get a desktop. They are more reliable, they're cheaper, you can repair them if anything does go wrong later and they can be upgraded. I have never seen a new notebook for under 370 and that one was during "black friday" (day after thanksgiving) and in just a couple of months I would already considered it in need of replacement. You can get a pretty relaible new desktop fo that price, esp if you get it without a monitor and you get the monitor from the thrift store. There are ALOT of good monitors there because many of us are getting bigger monitors. I jst say a almost brand new hp for 5 and a few compac monitors brand new in a box, never opend for 40. I build computers and give them to families that churches and shools recommend, so I am always looking for bargains. Avoid emachines.

Your going to have an extremely difficult time finding a laptop for $300.00. (new anyway). As for places to get inexpensive laptops. Dell or MDG will have a good value.

However you should still expect to sepnd between 500 - 1000 for a laptop that's new.

Its Internet etiquette NOT to use Caps Excessively. It seems as if you are screaming and nobody like a loudmouth now do they?
Apart from that getting on-topic,Check out this site:
www.newegg.com,
or
www.dell.com

And you can get a laptop just for your specifications and nothing else.
