Don't look to the congressional Democrats

The Democratic leadership in Congress is once again gearing up for a great sellout on the Iraq war. While the wrangling over the $124 billion Iraq supplemental spending bill is being headlined in the media as a "showdown" or "war" with the White House, it is hardly that. In plain terms, despite the impassioned sentiments of the antiwar electorate that brought the Democrats to power last November, the congressional leadership has made clear its intention to keep funding the Iraq occupation. For months, the Democrats' "withdrawal" plan has come under fire from opponents of the occupation who say it doesn't stop the war, doesn't defund it, and ensures that tens of thousands of U.S. troops will remain in Iraq beyond President Bush's second term.

on a joint green renewable energy program with the goal of producing 100% of both countries energy from domestic green clean renewable sources in 100 years with the goal of an 1% a year increase in over all energy production both countries consume annually? Why not it would be good for both countries equally, wouldn't it? Other countries could work for the same goal in concert with us if they wanted to, couldn't they? Hey, if a mutually benifical agreement that improves both sides standings can be achieved to replace hostile relations then why not?

After all, the Messiah is a Jewish concept, and he was supposed to be a priest and/or king who was NOT a deity.

The former assumption is not what Jesus claimed to be, and the latter assumption violates current Christian doctrine.

the previous question regarding Jesus and unconditional love had me thinking....

I know someone who is very depressed
they are not happy with things in their life
their partner asked them to think about things in their life
and if they wished to leave and stay elsewhere , then so be it
she would rather see him happy and enjoying life elsewhere , than unhappy at home married to her .....

isnt this unconditional love ?
when we put others before ourself and want what is best for them ?
even if the best for them is being elsewhere ?

The conservatives seem to preach Jesus and yet they are against

Universal health care
A social safety net
A fair tax syestem
A higher standard of living for the poor the welfare bums and so on

How is it that the conservatives who thump that bible so hard justify any of their stances on war and some detail like stem cel research when they make and buy bio chemical weapons and nuclear warheads at a rate that no other nation could hope to attain

Are the conservatives who make these so called moral stances just a bunch of liars and hypocrites - that do not "love their nieghbor as themselves ?

I am very fond of the Gospel of Mark probably because I have spent more time studying it than any other biblical book. I love Romans because of the way Paul so clearly explicates the Christian doctrine of salvation. I also like Isaiah because of the eschatological promises it gives to Israel who is at that time in a very dire situation.
