As a mother of a young child it's your job to know what he's doing and who he's doing it with.
You are definitely not being nosy....you're being a good mother.

Of course ur kid wont like it, you might find out what he is up to...I am a mother as well and I agree, you should be checking, 13 year olds think that nothing can hurt them & the world is not as bad as we the MOM think it is...WE know different, do not feel bad for watching out for him, its your job...God Bless!

You are responsible for him, you probably pay the web bills and made rules for surfing so yes you do.
You can check his history and see if he is surfing pornos, or up to other mischief.
I am a divorced dad and I freaked out when I saw his MySpace page! Guess thats what I get for living 5000 miles away.

Personally, I think you should give your son some space. Sometimes, kids feel more comfortable talking about certain things with their friends than with their parents. It doesn't necessarily mean they are doing anything bad. If you keep looking over your son's shoulder, then he might wind up resenting you for it. Give him a little privacy.

You have every right to want to know. You can know and still respect his privacy, but in today's world...take my advice and make sure you know before something happens. Once ot goes wrong, it's too late to do anything about it. At 13, he still needs to be taught about the world.

i definatly think you sould find out some things but not everything if he doesn't want you to know leave him alone i mean im 12 and when my mom comes around the computer to read what i rite but she goes away if it says "code 9" which means ppl stop talking about what they were talking about and talk about like homework and stuff so either way its like reading YOUR diary in front of the world when you read ur sons personal covos such as Myspace messages Msn messages iLike messages Tagged messages and alot of other things

Prove to himself or yourself that he is okay. Get your own computer and find a way to chat him up all the while pretending to be someone who MIGHT, in the end, be predatory. If he divulges any information or if you take things to far and he doesn't come to you about it, you have proven a whole lot. I love subterfuge!

It's not your right. It's your JOB. Most definitely keep an eye on it. If he doesn't like it, too bad. YOU are the parent. YOU set and enforce the rules. If he objects, un plug the computer, and discontinue the service.
