Because people assume too much and make asses out of themselves and do not see the inner glow of a person and that this person might be a great catch for the man. People make hasty judgments out of stupidity and ignorance and even if she is fat that is only one prespective of her whole self. They might also assume she lacks self-esteem and does not like herself but that is not always true. Look at how skinny people look in the mirrow and get a false reflection in their mind that they are fat and this is one of the symptoms od anorexia-nervosa.And if you want to look at another way that there is more cushion for the pushin and there is just more of her to love.

Most of the mainstream media and a multi-multi-billion dollar diet industry promotes the idea that fat is unatrractive, unhealthy, and gross. Of course, a majority of us are overweight in America, and quite a few of us are actually fitter and more healthy than thin people. It's pure ignorance, basically.

my sister is 150lbs overweight shes married and has a son, but people assume the same thing about her. Shes happy and that is all tha matters %^&*( society
