Both may be considered irreverent but both were well made, well written, and offered a different perspective on Christian dogma.
Yet, they flocked to the theaters to see a meglomaniac's self-indulgent, anti-semetic bloodfest (the Passion of the Christ) and well, hey! That's just dandy!
Are those the values that Christians identify with?

I don't mind a commute, which I know I'm going to have. I just want to be fairly close to the city so I can enjoy it. I'd like to be fairly close to a major highway so I don't have to spend 20 minutes just to get on it. I'd like to know which areas are good/safe.
Thanks

Think you're too old, too tired or too sad? You're wrong.

Can you identify with all the candles whose flames are guttering on the last stub?
Or the flowers whose time has come to whither and close into fists and die?

I know a place where you can hear the best parties you ever had echoing on continuously.
Where you sit on a hill with the friends you thought you had lost drinking fine wine looking forward to the times to come.

I'm going there now.
Coming?

I've personally only ever tried alcohol. And from the first sip until my buzz takes about 1/2 hour. Then the buzz lasts as long as I keep drinking. But how long does it take to get a buzz from cocaine or meth or heroin, and how long do the highs last?

I've been racking my brain for a while -- the little peanut inside's formed a dent that's clearly visible now -- and I've decided to break down and ask your help, folks.

I've been looking to start a hobby. The thing is, I can't think of anything that's cheap (I'm broke). Sure, I read, write and play board/computer and video games, but none of that -- with the exclusion of writing -- is considered a marketable skill. What else can you suggest?

Thanks for reading and replying!

I'm 23 weeks pregnant and we know it's a girl. My favorite name is Isabella but my husband hates, hates, hates it. We've decided to wait until the baby comes to name her but our 2 favorite names are Holly (his fav.) and Alexis (mine). What do these names remind you of or make you think of? Suggestions for middle names??

My son is 5 (to be 6 in Nov). I don't know what his grade level is for reading but he reads and understands books from the Magic Tree House/School Bus series easily. He loves Beverly Cleary books and can read those independently. He can do double digit addition with carrying over. He understands fractions, how to tell time etc. He loves to learn and will enthusiastically learn what ever you teach him. His kindergarten teacher does enrichment activities with him during his "center" time. He loves school.

How unusual is it for a five year old to be able to read and do math at this level in kindergarten? (Maybe it's not so unusual?) I don't have any frame of reference and I'm reluctant to discuss this with friends for fear of seeming obnoxious. "My kid is so smart." We are considering private school and this feedback would help. Is there any point to having him tested? We would never have him skip a grade.
