If you say that the 6 days of creation cannot be interpreted other than 6 literal 24 hour days, then wouldn't you also have to interpret Joshua making the sun stand still as literal rather than figurative. The concept of the earth revolving around the sun would not have been observable in ancient times, which is why people described the sun as rising and setting. That means many things in the Bible were written within the scope of human observation. It wasn't really relevant that God should tell people about the scientific detail behind everything, because that's not what's essential. Does that mean that it would be compromising your beliefs for science for you to interpret the sun standing still as the earth not rotating on its axis rather than taking it for its word. You might be able to say that radiocarbon dating is flawed, but how would you be able to deny evidence for the earth's rotation that can now be readily observed, unless you say that it's all just an optical illusion

I want to know: If humans evolved from primates, then why are there still primates? Isn't evolution about natural selection? The only reason that humans would have evolved from apes is if they couldn't cut it in the world. But here we both are... what am I missing? And yes, I realise this is a dumb question... I guess thats why my Bio prof laughed :(

I know it's the only thing to do, as there are so many cats that are abandoned, thrown out and killed every year, still the moral implications are really killing me.

What right have I got to mutilate him? There are far too many humans on the planet right now, still I don't see people being forced to chop their privates off.
Isn't it ethically wrong to impose this kind of life changing operation on a living being?

He's booked in for tomorrow and I'm scared he will hate me when he comes home, or that he won't be the same adorable guy he's always been...

A horse and a chicken are playing in a meadow. Suddenly the horse falls into a mud hole and starts sinking. He tells the chicken to go and get the farmer to help pull him out to safety. The chicken runs to the farmer, but the farmer can't be found.
So he drives the farmer's Mercedes back to the hole and ties some rope around the bumper. He then throws the other end of the rope to his friend and drives forward saving the horse from sinking.
A few days later, the chicken and horse are playing in the meadow again, and the chicken falls into a mud hole. The chicken tells the horse to go and get some help from the farmer.
The horse says: "I think I can get you out."
So he stretches over the width of the hole and says: "Grab hold of my 'thing' and pull yourself up."
The chicken does this and is pulled to safety. Moral of the story: If you are hung like a horse, you don't need a Mercedes to pick up chicks.

Last year I bought an iris from an iris farm, The iris is supposed to bloom twice a year, in the fall and spring. It has been almost a year and still no blooms, but seems to me multiplying well.
