Me and him have become good friends the past 2 years and he's getting married now. I thought of giving him a wedding gift but don't know what. What kind of wedding gift do I give to a college advisor?

Find out where your advisor is registered and purchase a gift off of thier registry. If that is not an option then get them a smoothie maker. Everyone can use a smoothie maker.

If you did not receive a formal wedding invitation, then do not get him a gift at all. Just saying "congratulations" is all that is expected. If your relationship with your adviser is as close as you're imagining, then you would've received an invitation to the wedding, the wedding reception, or at least some kind of personal gathering. My hunch is that the adviser, as friendly as he may be with you, has kept a professional demeanor and expects nothing from the students he advises. If you must give something, then a card is sufficient.

Upon completion of thesis, dissertation, or receiving your degree, it is appropriate to give a gift of thanks to your college adviser.

ask where he and his future wife are registered, and then you can pick out a gift from the things they've already decided they wanted. A good gift is always linens (towels, bedding, kitchen towels, etc).
