I got "possesses no troublesome sensibilities" from a book, and this is the whole sentence:

"he possessed no power of thought, no depth of feeling, no troublesome sensibilities; nothing in short, but a few common-place instincts, which, aided by the cheerful temper that grew inevitably out of his physical well being, did duty very respectably, and to general acceptance, in lieu of a heart.

what does this tell about the person? i don't really get it. This man is 80 years old and is an Inspector in a Customs House, and the book mentions that he eats a lot. Can someone please help me understand this person more? Thank You.

for a person like this (as described above), what do you think he would say if asked how should the government be supported?

the speed limit? No more, no less... they just stay there; often leaving no way around. You just have to wait them out? I hate this.... I can appreciate the "I'm doing the speed limit" train of thought, but why can't they move over... and what type of person plays "self-appointed" road guardian? AAAAHHHH
Anyone else feel similar? or are you a "road guardian"

I work for my cousin in a small (25-30 employees) pest control firm. I find that a lot of ppl in general don't trust us, think we're lying, think we don't spray when we say we do, all kinds of things. I'm not talking about our customers, they know we do right by them. I'm speaking of the reputation pest control has in general not our company specifically. when ppl first call us, that is their attitude, that they will not be treated fairly. my dad was in this business and taught my cousin and i , we want to do right. What can we do to redreate this misconception and do you think that your pest control company takes care of you?

Two 22 year old graduates apply for a job. one male one female with the same credentials. the male is hired because it is less expensive to employ a male than a female. (statisticaly)
The females is more likely to use up maternaty leave, family responsibility leave. If she falls pregnant which will most likely happen you will have to incurr additional costs to keep her job open and to hire somone else for the time being. Worst yet half the time it is likely that she will not return in which case you just wasted a lot of money training and investing in her onlyu to hav e to look for someone else to fill her position and start all over.

This is an argument that my economics lecturer gave to us to think about. Do you agree or disagree with the decision. i am a women and i think that it makes sense financialy cos businesses are essentially profit maximisers but dont you think this is gender discrimination. Is it only discrimination if the intention is to oppress a group? Doesnt this?

Dear all,

I recently heard that a lesbian couple got thrown out of an IHOP for kissing in public, down in Grandview, MO. I have to say this makes me angry, I am not very much aware of the struggle of gays. But it is an injustice, and it is not right.

How shall we ever approach the Courts with prosecuting such injustices, as the blacks did when injustices were committed unto them? That old spiritual of "We shall overcome" still applies in this day and age, even amongst the gay communities throughout the nation.

most Christians believe easter is celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus. but few tuely know easter with all of its traditions are completely pagan. it is the holiday to worship the goodess of fertility, estarte! which is why it is called easter! but i guess those so called Christians would rather put their blindfolds back on and celebrate estarte's day, oops i guess its easter for you instead of celebrating passover and know that Jesus freed us from the bondage of sin.

I jsut downloaded GIMP, and I couldn't be more confused. I tried to drag the icon on my desktop to the trash, but then an 'eject' button shows up, and a pop up says "The disk Gimp could not be ejected." Why is it calling it a disk, i installed it online?
Anyway, I want to know how to delete all of it's files completely. I'm having hard time deleting it.
Also, if I delete it, will it free up some space or once it's downloaded is the space gone for good, regardless if you delete it or not?

Ok so the guy I like has a girlfriend, he is also my best friend and already knows I like him. Well now he goes and sends mixed signals to me, torturing my every BEING!
