In XP, networking, workgroup only, in network config/properties, TCP/IP internet protocol properties, what is the difference between specifying the default gateway and not. I often see that the default gateway is equal to the IP address.

Im in grade seven and all the seventh graders at my school participate in a thing called the I3 and its like an invention convention. Basically, we are put into groups of 2-3 and we have to brainstorm and create an invention. 50 people from my school will be picked to go Downtown to show thier inventions to business people and a chance to be on TV. I have a couple ideas, but is there an invention you wish were real to make your life easier? If so, please tell me! Is there something that bugs you everyday, tell me that too! Then i could possibly make an invention out of that (with my partner of course) and then maybe get to Downtown! Or if theres an awesome invention you want to make, and is the best idea in the world but you cant make it, tell me please! REMEMBER, im a seventh grader, my partners a seventh grader. So please suggest something we can fix (not something like, i hate goin to work fix that) and plz make something realistic. Nothin with fire or blades (pffft not allowed)
