I have very thick hair, and wavy. I use a CHI straightner, when I straighten it, as they are the BEST. When i just let it air dry, or use a cheap product, its wavy and frizzy...
But if i buy Bed Head Products....like "Rockin Curls" or other expensive Curl Brands, sold only at salons...I have spiral curls that are beautiful...
So yes, it all depends on the product...try bed head, I love it, and it takes away my frizz...
Hope this helps some..

I have the exact same hair. I just started using the sunsilk frizz control conditioner and It has really made a difference. My sisters tried it when they visited last and have now converted as well. I also use the sebastian hair oil or the jon frieda hair serum for frizz as well, applying it to my damp hair whether I dry it or not. These have all worked well for me

How to Straighten Your Hair
Always wanted your crazy curls to be dead straight and stylish? Follow these easy-as tips to beautiful straight hair!

Steps
Before you even step into the shower, rinse your hair out with cool water in the sink. Towel dry it, then when it is almost dry go into the kitchen. Take mayonnaise and hot oil and apply it to your hair, especially the ends. Leave it on for about one hour, or even more for extra dry, damaged hair.
Wash your hair with a tiny bit of moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Run your hair under cold water. Squeeze out the excess water and apply serum to your hair. Apply to the ends of your hair, not to the roots, so that they don't get oily. You might want to add some gel for extra hold.
Detangle any knots using a wide-toothed comb. If your hair is really knotty, try using a detangling spray. Do not brush!
Pin up the top section of your hair and use the round brush to blowdry your hair. Hold the hair sections out taut and point the hairdryer down to dry it. Do this section by section, so that your hair is completely dry. You may want to then dry up the hair, from the neck to the end of the strands. This makes it easier to get the hair on the back of the head.
If you have decided to use a hair straightener, put your hair into sections again, and run over your hair with the straightener. Grip one section of hair. Clamp the flat iron onto the top portion of the section. Slowly, move the iron down your hair. Repeat up to three times.
Brush hair, and finish off with a small amount of serum.

Tips
Before you get out of the shower, rinse your hair with cold water. This will make your hair extra shiny!
When blowdrying your hair, make sure the hairdryer is pointing down, so that all the hair folicles point down, which equals super shiny hair, which is the look we're going for! Also, before blow-drying, consider applying a heat protection spray.
Don't use too much hair serum or hair products, because you don't want your hair to look lank and greasy.
Some good products to try: Chi Silk Infusion, Redken Smooth Down, Biosilk: Silk Therapy Serum or Nexxus Heat Protexx.
An awesome shampoo and conditioner is Dove Therapy
A fantastic straightening iron is CeramicSeries by Helen of Troy
If your hair is fragile, use a low setting on the iron. If it's thick and unruly, make the heat almost the hottest it can be. When in doubt, keep it on a lower setting; it will be less damaging.
Invest in a good flat iron. Make sure to get one that has flat blades instead of round ones, preferably ceramic.
Another type of straightener that can help straighten without damaging is an ionic or wet to dry straightner. Instead of using 2 heated plates, it acts as a blowdryer, causing less damage and less frizz

Warnings
Don't brush your hair when it's wet, because it stretches and breaks the hair. Always use a wide-toothed comb.
If you're in a rush and need to dry your hair, don't take the easy way out and use your hair straightner when it's wet. See that steam coming out? You are boiling it from your hair! It dries it out badly. Always use a hairdryer prior to straightening.
ALWAYS use heat protection spray or else your hair will get damaged from straightener.

Unless you are ready to spend a hundred dollars on the maxiglide curling iron, the best way to get non-frizzy hair is to straighten it during the winter when the air is dry.

During humid weather, that is when it gets frizzy.

(Humid includes nightclubs or an environment that makes you sweat.)
