I guess this is a psychology question (or maybe just a parenting question), but i have a nephew who is growing out of the toddler phase. I see him about once every two to three weeks, and he seems to keep forgetting who i am. Whenever i first see him, I try to go and pick him up or hug him, but he just runs away from me to hide behind his parents like he doesn't know me. Is this normal? Oh, and he's about 2 and half years old.

So I live in Forest Hill, TX and this last week we had tons of companies asking
us to lease them our mineral rights since they are very interested in having a
well 2 miles way from our properties, we had meeting in city hall and all that
but they don't give you more information than you would find in the Internet. I
own .5 an acre so I know I'm not getting a big bonus at first round $1500 and
then 25% royalties from this company. I know I have to get a surface use waiver
so they don't put a rig in my land, but this is the question no ones seems to
answer, is there any damage to my land and property? Is it worth it to go over
the trouble of researching other companies and their going rate? Anything bad I
should know? I know big companies have been relocating to Fort Worth since it
seems the barnett shale it's pretty big and lucrative, are we the property
owners getting screwed over? Being underpaid for the good and being left over
with the bad like water pollution?"

As I've browsed similar questions, I see a scary attitude of "Music should be free". I agree that the spirit, and celebration of music, as well as the communal nature of music should always be free. However it takes just as much effort to become a quality musician as it does a quality police officer, or architect. If there is no incentive to celebrate the genius of someone's writing or talent, and SUPPORT they're efforts, why should they feel compelled to share they're work? I, for instance have been a pro-songwriter, and sold my work for profits. I have a degree in music, and practiced for 17 years to get where I am...Why should I just GIVE you what I've worked hard to produce?

I still allow my parents to claim me as a dependent to help them out. This past year I earned about $19k working over 6 months and had federal taxes withheld each pay period. After our accountant figured out my taxes, they claimed that my refund was only minimal (something like $200). Since my income this year was far more than what I've earned over the past few years, and since my parents can be kind of shady at times, I was wondering if they might be cheating me out of some of the refund. I know that being claimed as a dependent reduces your refund amount, but still, something feels off about it given the money involved. I live across the country from them and so I don't know if I'll be able to check out the tax documents without getting into an argument. I don't want to accuse them if it's likely they are telling the truth. Thanks.

My 1 year old kitty has a watery looking eye... just one eye. It's clear fluid and doesn't seem to bother him much... but I have spent soooo much money on the vet in the past month (getting him fixed, shots, a sickness) that i wondered if there was a simpler way of treating this.
