Of course I don't know for sure, but if I had to make a guess I'd say there are more stars...well, in the universe anyway. I don't know about our sky. If that's the question then I'd had to go with the sand. There are billions of stars just in our galaxy and there are billions of galaxies in the universe, but not as many are visible in our sky. Hmmm....thought provoking. :)

Since the sky also includes some galaxies with their own stars...a galaxy has about 100-200 trillion stars....using the 100 trillion number, there are about 100-200 trillion galaxies...100 trillion stars in our galaxies plus the 100 trillion stars times the 100 trillion galaxies (1 followed by 144 zeroes) it comes pretty close to the number of grains of sand along a beach or maybe the beach come pretty close to the number of stars in the universe.

I'd say there's definitely more stars than there are grains of sand. Sand in limited to Earth, stars are numerous in space, which goes on eternally. Whose to say where space ends, if it ever does.
