President Bush recently presented his 2008 budget, asking for a record $700 billion for "security" spending (formerly known as military spending) — a $130 billion increase over last year's budget. That's a lot of #@*& ing money**, in fact it's almost twice what we will spend on every other item in the discretionary budget: education, health & human services and international aid, etc. And, as MAU is fond of repeating, our "security" budget is more than all other military budgets in the world COMBINED !!! We could provide health care for the planet with this much money...
