if you believe in a loving Creator?

Pain and misery beyond imagination for eternity. For short-term actions. What is the justification? I have heard that it Hell is a place that sinners make for themselves. That God doesn't really send them there. Well, who made the rules that determine that people go there in the first place? If humans ourselves are making Hell purely by ourselves than we must be like gods. Nonsense.

I have heard that sins against an infinite God deserve an infinite punishment. How insanely cruel. WE are finite, stupid and fickle mortals. Why should we deserve an infinite anything? And considering the extreme cruelty of Hell, why doesn't God just forgive sinners and send them to a Catholic purgatory of sorts. He forgave us of our sins through Christ, which I hear we are undeserving of but He did it anyway. Now if we finite (relative) idiots make a mistake and then die before asking for forgiveness, we burn for eternity?

How can you justify this?

It's a lie that has been told so many times it has become viewed as the truth. I am a Christian and if I believed God would torture someone for eternity for a life time of sin I would curse Him and leave the faith. The fact is that false teaching has it's roots in the Pagan belief of an immortal soul. It is not biblical. The bible says the wages of sin is death. The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ. Only the righteous will receive immortality. The wicked will be destroyed and will be as if the never were.

What the bible says of heaven and hell is mistranslated. The bible says there is life after death threw spirit. Spirit is not us, spirit is our actions and influence. Life after death is what we leave behind when we die and how what we have done in death has contributed even though we are no longer on Earth mentally. Heaven is the good and hell is the bad spirits that follow our death. Heaven and hell is not a physical place. Like God is not a being that takes up space, or that space would have to be more powerful than God.

Christ died for our sins. Because he died, Christ's word lived on. In many ways death can say more than any living man and Jesus knew this so by dying his word was remembered threw his death. If Jesus didn't die would the world have still listened? It's like an author who's books didn't sell until their dying day. He died, but his spirit (being his goal to spread God's word) continued or "resurrected".

What justifies Hell? Who can tell you that when what Hell really means was read off the Bible like a text book and taken literally. Why must we tolerate the ignorant? Did God make us knowing very well the pertental of our actions and what we would do in life, just to smoke us? I think not.

You are completely mis-informed.There is no purgatory. Do not rely on what someone may tell you. Read it for yourself. 2 Peter 2:9; Matthew 13:40; John 12:48; John 5:28, 29; Job 21:30, 32; Revelation 21:8; 20:10; Malachi 4:1,3; Ezekiel 28:18, 19. The word "hell" is used 54 times in the bible: In the Old Testament 31 times from "Sheol," which means "the grave."; In the New Testament 10 times from "Hades," which means "the grave."; 12 times from "Gehenna," which means 'the place of burning."; 1 time from "Tartarus," which means "a place of darkness." Read The Holy Bible (KJV). If the wicked is consumed, how can they burn for eternity? You have a choice.

I am fully convinced that heaven or hell wouldnt matter if the decision made was to be separated from Him. If you consider the alternative....
God would violate your free will and FORCE you to be in a heaven that you didnot want to be in and your torture would be to look at Him.

If "God is love" the opposite must be hate. "Hell is other people"said Jean-Paul Sarte, and he is right. You get confirmed in an eternal place separated for an eternity. Its amazing that when people say "How could God "send" you to hell"? By saying "send" assume there is no responsibility on thier part. Yes God is loving, but not at the expense of being just. all else is idolitry.

I believe it furthers the "us" vs. "them" atmosphere of religion. As long as you're on the good side, the bad side will all pay for what they've done in the end. Good must win, bad must pay, and hell is the ultimate price one pays for being bad.

Thank goodness I don't buy into that, um, stuff. I'm here, I do good in my life and then I die. End of story.
