I moved to this city and got immediately involved in a long-time relationship with a jealous girl, so in the four years we dated, I didn't really have to opportunity to make friends. Now our relationship is over, and I don't know anyone. No one at my workplace is my age (I'm late 20's), and going out by myself makes me feel like the weird guy. I've even tried personals sites, but that's been fruitless. I'm not unattractive or socially awkward or anything. How do I meet people without seeming like I'm coming on too strong?

I'd appreciate some thoughtful and *mature* answers, please.

I am applying for graduate school. The one I'm applying to is looking for students who have similar academic interests as the ones the professors who teach there do.
So, I found 2 who have the same interests as me, but I was wondering if it was appropriate to email them and see if I could meet with them during their office hours to discuss the program. Yeah, I'd like to meet them to learn more about the program, but I'd also like to mention it in my personal statement.

Do professors generally accept appointments from prospective applicants???

So far every responder does npt know of they went toa state school, or believe that what they pay the state school is the full cost of attending it.

Students at state schools are getting subsidized educations. Don't you get it?

You can google it which leaves me confused. When you watch footage... it's looks like a missle hit the pentagon. Evidence is so obvious. So what;s the deal with no real big recognition of who these "heroes" are. Most look like military employees who could have "crucified" themselves for our country. It used to be one of our duties as low ranking enlisted men(persons; sorry); we had to take our turns, and I thanked the first sergeant from the bottom of my heart each and every time that I pulled KP duty. A lot of people think that KP was used as punishment; no it was one of the things a soldier had to do, too often. By the way the 'P' in KP stood for 'police' as I remember. Thanks for this oppotunity to ask another silly question.

im 36 i have 2 grown children and am now raising my bro. 6 yr old hes in kindergarten. im not a teacher and for good reason-i have NO patience teaching someone now my 6yr old brings homework home on wed. thats due fri. 7 pages! i dont like getting mad at HIM but i dont have the patience to help with that much work. isnt it her (teacher) job? i have no problem with anything else. we read together and "study" but i pay her wages to teach my child, and isnt 7 pages alot for grade k? help please im ready to explode!!
