What is the probability that the tallest and shortest are together? My own solution is [({6-2+1}-1)!2!]/[6-1]! = 48/120 = 2/5. But I'm not sure whether that's the solution. I know that number of ways of arranging n people in a circle is (n - 1)!.. But here I have 2 people who are supposed to be next to each other ie the tallest and shortest. In my numerator, i took 6-2 to remove the 2 people, add 1 to add in the 2 people who are now being considered as 1 group, -1 again cos of formula for permutation in a circle, *2! to permutate the people in the group. is that correct or do I have to apply the circle formula and take (2-1)! ? My instincts says the "2" doesnt have to be subtracted by 1 but can someone help me put it in a clearer perspective as to why we don't have to? And why do we have to take (n-1)! for permutations in a circle?

I am 32 weeks pregnant with my second child. It' been 7 years since I had my first- so forgive me for being a bit "rusty". Anyways, with my frist daughter I remember losing my mucus plug all at once- I wiped and BAM there was a whole huge (and by huge i mean- well i dont exactly remember it was a bit smaller than a golf ball- but there was def a lot) blob of mucus. Last night I had 3 "mild" contractions and this monrning when I wiped- there was a small (by small i mean about the amount if you had blown your nose) amount of mucus on the toilette paper. This also happened on two seperate days last week. Are these just small amounts of my mucus plug?

We have heard a lot about global warming recently (and global cooling some decades ago) and I would like to ask if it is worth it trying to tackle it, at least we have heard that there has been an ice age before (or is it after) the dinosaurs and then a meteor, which destroyed the dinosaurs world but here we are today, living as the dominant being of the world.

Could we overcome global warming or should we just leave nature to take its course and see how things work out in the end. Why bother about an uncertainty?
