Bizarre question, I realise. What I mean is this: with absolute values, you would say, for example, that an increase from 20 employees to 30 employees is a 50% increase: 50% of 20 is 10, 10 + 20 = 30. Everybody's happy. But as the values I'm speaking about are already percentages, it seems potentially confusing. In statistical analysis, is there any terminology to differentiate between the two values in my titular question? Or if somebody says 'sales tax was 10% but it's gone up by 25%', am I merely to guess whether the new tax rate is 35% or 12.5%?

Sorry if this question was confusingly worded...

My wife has an Alexandrite ring obtained by her father in the MidEast. I would like to match it with some earrings, but the stones shown on the several jewelry websites are turquoise in color while hers is purple. I have tried leaving the ring in the sunshine, but it is still purple. Is this stone a dud or what? How can I match it.

When you see a picture taken by an SLR or SLR-like digital camera compared to a regular compact point-and-shoot digital camera, there are obvious differences in quality.

What technology is responsible for the "professional" look in a photo taken by one of the SLR cameras? Is this why they cost so much more than regular cameras?

he said it looks like 350day in jail or probation but only if he pleas guilty. This happened in Jan this year and he's just now in court for it. We werent together then, but he was on a date and the girl had way too much...passed out in the car...and he only had maybe a couple of beers that nite, and bad thing...was smoking pot too..he didnt think the cop had seen that part cause they searched the car and didnt say anything about it and didnt take it either. He has been to jail before but only for outstanding tickets and nothing else.

so with that being said....what are his chances of getting probation and all that comes with it without any jail time? Please dont be rude about his actions...they are in the past and yes now he is paying...but also dont sugar coat what can happen. Serious answers only please!

I understood that it was illegal to offer a discount for taking finance as against paying cash. A double glazing firm has quoted me a price for my windows but has said that they will offer me a lower price for using their finance. Is this ok? I do know that you cannot be offered a better price for cash so does it work the other way round?
