I find that I still tend to want to do the opposite of what people tell me to do. I get really angry when people tell me how I should feel about something or what I should do about it (unless I ASK for their two cents!!) so like a stubborn, bratty teenager, I just don't listen.

People express rebellion in many ways. Males are more outward. Females tend to go inward as a general rule.

Who gets the outward brunt of it? With adolescents,I'd say parents or guardians would be number one. Perhaps, teachers. Generally, it's usually the ones that we interact with on a daily basis. But it doesn't have to stop there. Some take it out on society as a whole. And the later includes adults.

If you look at it reasonably, the person doing the rebellion is hurting themself the most whether he/she realizes it or not.

Both outward and inward- I dressed "punk"- I stitched my own clothes together, shaved my head, wore leather boots and jackets, spikes, studs, political patches, pins, belts, rebllious attitude, etc. etc. etc.

I also changed my whole outlook on life- I became anarchist (still am, actually), dropped my religion, changed my morals

Bascially, the former things (external rebellion) only gave ME the brunt- people treated me like **** and didn't take me seriously

The latter, gave the system the brunt- I have devoted my life to progressive change and a social revolution <--------THAT'S what counts! Not the spikey hair and shitty clothes, which is just fake rebellion, but the TRUE rebellion of intellectual free thought and progressive change in society
