Tony Blair is talking about introducing Green Taxes. What is he going to do with the money? Does anyone think he will use it to help people get more green with wind turbines / solar panels etc, either for individuals or nationally?

I suspect it will just disapear into the big black spending hole and make no difference to green issues at all. If it was used to help people go green that could make sense but it doesn't as it stands.

What do you think?

Five companies in Britain produce more carbon dioxide pollution together than all the motorists on UK roads combined, according to new figures which reveal heavy industry's contribution to climate change.
A league table compiled by the Guardian identifies EON UK, the electricity generator that owns Powergen, as Britain's biggest corporate emitter of greenhouse gases. It produced 26.4m tonnes of carbon dioxide last year - slightly more than Croatia did.
The figures, which have prompted new calls for tighter restrictions on corporate pollution, show that efforts by individuals and households to cut their carbon footprints will make little difference unless accompanied by greater action by industry. A 1% increase in the efficiency of the giant Drax power station in North Yorkshire - the largest in Europe and the single biggest polluting site in the UK - would save the typical carbon emissions of 21,000 households. Drax alone produced 20.8m tonnes of carbon dioxide last year.

Houdini died on October 31st, 80 years ago.
he is best known for debunking fraudulent mediums.........literally hundreds of them in his career.......but his interest was initially in PROVING communication after death was possible, it was only the fact that he repeatedly saw mediums using stage-magic tricks that swung him towards skepiticism.
Wheh he died, in 1926, he left a coded message with his wife and asked her to hold a seance every year on the anniversary of his death. in 1936, his wife admitted that - after many seances - no one had given her the coded message.

My question is to Spitualist and believers.......why did this person - with a supreme interest in mediums and after-death communication - who desperatley wanted to prove the reality of after death communication - never contact his beloved wife and give her the code which would have given her, and others, so much comfort?

Where I live in New Jersey, Continental Airlines had paid to have the Meadowlands arena named the "Continental Airlines Arena." I understand why Continental Airlines would want to do that, and I know why the Meadowlands arena authority would want to take their money, but why would broadcasters call the stadium "Continental Airlines Arena"? Doesn't that give this airline all sorts of publicity on the TV network? Does Continental pay every time someone mentions the name? Or does it get all this promotion free (except for the cost of naming the arena)?

For sometime now my boyfriend has been getting sms messages from a girl that he speaks to from work (She works for another company). When I ask him questions about it he tells me that is all for work?? The thing is she got fired from her job last week but she still keeps sending him messages. She even droped into his work today to see him. Which my boyfriend told me about. Now she is coming to dinner with us and his parents for his birthday. Should I be worried? Should I be nice to her? I've never met this girl before.
