House prices are way up high and there are many that need housing that is affordable.

Obviously the answer is to build new homes but how should it be done without detrimenting the environment and social fabric of the country?

- is the answer to build new towns?
- expand cities
- higher rise in city centres, after all london is very low density.

- or how about if they just built FIVE new homes in EVERY settlement in the Uk, would that solve the shortage.

Yesterday was a really rough day for us. We've just found out my husband will be serving a second deployment to Iraq. Not only that but my cousin (who lives with us and has been for the past two years) has now convinced his class that he gets multiple birthday parties and has invited them over. He was born on 9/9/01--two days before 9/11. This year we had a birthday party for him and then we had a party to honor those lives lost and those serving for the events that happened on September 11th. He now believes that they were both for him. I explained to him that on 9/11 people died for a very sad reason. I've explained to him that Tio (my husband) has to go to war during his last deployment. He is five years old and now asking a lot of questions. I don't know how to deal with it! I don't know how to explain. How do you explain war and death to a five year old? How can we do this without scaring him? Any advice is appreciated!

what is an unbeliever, I hear this word so much on this forum, but what does it mean? To me it is too vague and general of a word to know what the person implies who uses this word.
To un infront of believe is to negate believe. So an unbeliever is someone who believed but undid the belief of what they believed? Huh. Am I the only one who doesent understand this?

First, I will say that they can be very controlling...they tried to give me a 1030PM curfew at age 25..I moved out. They call early on weekend mornings for stupid stuff. They called first thing this morning for something totally unimporant,I told them it was too early on a weekend morning, and I would have to call them back later. My boyfriend works different hours, he was sleeping. They call late at night also. My biggest problem with them is that I have asked them over and over and over again not to call late at night or early in the morning unless there is an emergency. They keep doing so, calling at night when I have to work the next day, and weekend wake up calls. It is ALWAYS something that can wait.I have left the phone off the hook on weekend mornings but don't like to do this, in case, God forbid there is a real emergency. They know my boyfriend sleeps late on the weekends, last time I told them they woke him up, they laughed.

Hello. we have 3 cats, Mommy cat and 2 of her sons. We have recently moved a few streets away from where we living, approx 1/2 mile away.
The sons are fine and have not returned, the Mother however is a different kettle of fish. She is returning at least once a week and it is getting more difficult to get her to come to us when we fetch her home. She seems content enough when here and has always been with us since a kitten.
All 3 were kept in for the same amount of time before letting them explore their new territory in gradually increasing amounts of time. So what can we do; as we are concerned that someone may take her in or that she may get hurt on her travels; to keep her by the new house?

This freedom loving British Government are proposing legislation so that local authority officials/government officials can enter your house to evaluate any improvements you may have made to your home, failure to co-operate with these people will mean £1000 fine and a further £200 per day until you comply. There is even talk of rating for tax purposes the view from your windows! This proposed legislation is for ,surprise,surprise.....tax purposes. In France I have no doubt these officials would be hanging from lamp posts but our government expects the British people just to swallow it and look happy. Any body still not believe '1984' has not arrived ? The government are of course in denial of the proposal.
