Do cats actually understand spoken language or do they learn to associate certain words with certain things? i.e 'dinner' with food being about to be served.

What puzzles me is that my cat seems to greet me 'Hello' when she has not seen me for a while.

I've bought a 30GB Seagate external hard disk 6mth ago. Recently, I've accidentally tripped over the USB cable that attached from my hard disk to my laptop and the cable got unattached from it while my laptop were actually playing some songs from the hard disk. Later when I try to plug back the cable, it couldn't find any files in it. I’ve tried every method, but still fail. I can’t even format it. In the properties of My Computer, says that the file system of this drive is RAW. I’ve also tried many data recovery software but It doesn’t detect this drive at all. I know the best solution is to send this drive to the data recovery companies if I want to get back all my data in it, but the reason I ask here is to get feedback from anyone out there, if you have any instruction of doing the data recovery myself. I also know that doing it myself is risky and may defect the disk even more but I want to give it a try and to learn something new. Please help. Thanks.

If i drive to work every day and re-fill my car with petrol once a week it costs me £60, yet if i re-fill my car every day it only costs me £5 per day, so thats £35 for the 7 days!!

So where does the extra £25 worth of fuel go?????

My husband has an 18 1/2 yr old daughter from a previous marriage...This kid only contacts her father when she wants $$$. The latest excapade is the WANT for a new car. She hasn't saved her money and needs $4,000.00. (i don't have it) Unbeknownst to me until last night...hubby tells me we're to get a loan for this kid from our equity loan on our HOME. I told him NO. I told him his kid needed to stand on her own to feeties! I told him I need a new roof on our home, paint for our bedroom (not painted in 11 yrs) a new coat and new winter shoes! He says's she'll pay us back...HOW can she do that working part-time at DQ (15-18hrs a week) and pay on the loan her mother is getting for her too? I'm sorry but am I being totally unreasonable?

I can help her with maybe $300.00 but not $4,000!!!

I have good established credit. I have two paid autos, a motorcycle that I financed paid full,and a few credit cards always paid on time. I've been told I have a good credit score for my age(23). On the last vehicle i bought the salesman said it may get me a lower intrest rate if i got my father-in-law to co-sign, even though I have plenty of credit to purchase the vehicle on my own. Is this a step backwards? I tried getting a loan before in the past and they said i had "too much co-credit"even though i had never had any before.So will getting that co-signer actualy make my credit go down?Also I've heard that it is better to leave credit card accounts open when you're done with them rather than closing them, that creditors like to see available credit. Is this true?
