I had never looked into the Amish religion until the atrocity against their community recently.
As an atheist I have no time for any religion, I certainly have no respect for the 'so called' Christians. (Two faced springs to mind)!
But it seems to me that the Amish group actually practise their Christianity, they will actually turn the other cheek, they dont treat this just as 'something that Jesus said' which can be translated into whatever the reader wants it to mean!
It appears to me that they are the only 'true' Christians that I have ever come across! Why arent all Christians the same in this very basic teaching?
How can a 'true' Christian justify killing a fellow man, woman or child, for whatever reason?
By all means do it, (if you consider the act justified) but dont call yourself 'Christian'!

My father in law is 90 years old and has been sick for the past three months. Unfortunately it is basically a waiting game. My husband has been sleeping at his dad's house for the past two months to help out. My mother in law and brother in law live there too. I am tired of being alone every night and told my husband he needs to be home . I can understand going over one or two nights a week but isn't 7 nights exaggerated. I also told my husband he could spend more time with his dad during the day and then come home at night. Am I wrong? Shouldn't I be one of his priorities?

My husband and I have a one bedroom apartment and are planning on staying there after the baby is born. At least for a while. (Rent is really cheap and using extra $ to pay off bills so we will be able to buy a nice house). Anyone in this situation and how did you make it work? The baby will obvously have to be in our room. Any baby things that are a must or thing that you can go without?

I'm constantly amazed at how little people know about the Bible or the process by which it was created, compiled and edited. People believe blindly in the Bible inspite of the fact that the book was never authorized or endorsed by God!

The fact that there is no mention (not even in the Bible itself!) of God commissioning such a book to be written should throw a flag for people. Out of all the instructions that Christ gave on how to live life, not once is it recorded that he endorsed a book called "the Bible." Shouldn't that tell you something? He gave instructions on every area of moral behavior but never once authorized a book like this.

True Christians need to study more, learn more and understand how this book came into being in order to understand its flaws.

I admit that the Bible is one of the most useful tools for living, but it is far from perfect and definitely not entirely God inspired

What in your opinion is joy, and how do you maintain it? What makes you joyful?

Today in church, our pastor spoke on joy and gave everyone cards with the word "joy" on it, and had a ninja going around the auditorium stealing the cards. His sermon was on what steals your joy.

In Border Fence's Path, Congressional Roadblocks

By Spencer S. Hsu
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, October 6, 2006;
No sooner did Congress authorize construction of a 700-mile fence on the U.S.-Mexico border last week than lawmakers rushed to approve separate legislation that ensures it will never be built, at least not as advertised, according to Republican lawmakers and immigration experts.GOP leaders have singled out the fence as one of the primary accomplishments of the recently completed session. Many lawmakers plan to highlight their $1.2 billion down payment on its construction as they campaign in the weeks before the midterm elections. But shortly before recessing late Friday, the House and Senate gave the Bush administration leeway to distribute the money to a combination of projects -- not just the physical barrier along the southern border. The funds may also be spent on roads, technology and "tactical infrastructure" to support the Department of Homeland Security's preferred option of a "virtual fence."

What's more, in a late-night concession to win over wavering Republicans, GOP congressional leaders pledged in writing that Native American tribes, members of Congress, governors and local leaders would get a say in "the exact placement" of any structure, and that Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff would have the flexibility to use alternatives "when fencing is ineffective or impractical."

The loopholes leave the Bush administration with authority to decide where, when and how long a fence will be built, except for small stretches east of San Diego and in western Arizona. Homeland Security officials have proposed a fence half as long, lawmakers said.

Just last week a religious fanatic group was going to protest at the burial of those little Amish girls, they had signs stating that the little girls were whores and they deserved to die, an anchor at fox news asked them what would it take to stop them from doing so, he offered them money at which they scoffed, so he gave them 1 hour on his radio show in which they agreed. Do you think that the religious protesting is getting out of hand. What say you? The name of the fanatic religious group is called The Westboro Baptist Group.---A.P.
