i own my own business and do not like turnover. I have been having problems with an employee of one year(who i personally like and customers like) for excessive cell phone/text messaging . I have asked her several times to keep it to a minimum and my other employee( who is new)came to me and said while I was out of town the cell phone was at an all time high. she came in late, had her husband in the office for 1 1/2 hours, took a 1 1/2 lunch all in the same day. She takes advantage of my good nature. Try's to get away with as much as she can, for example if I were to send her to an offsite meeting ( which i don't anymore because of this) she would take her time coming back dragging it out 30 minutes or so. I pay her to study for a work related exam and told her to go in back room to study my other employee told me she was on the phone the whole time , I have witnessed this as well.impression I am giving her a written warning however wonder if termination is more appropriate. Help!!
