I will be eligible to apply for an American Citizenship on May 2007 (Yes, it will be five years by then!). The thing is, by May 2007, I will be in Japan studying through a study abroad program (I will start my stay in Japan on January 2007). So, before hitting the 6 month mark, is there a way I can file my Citizenship while overseas? And even if I am allowed to apply while overseas before the 6 month limit, I will then still be in Japan (actually until the end of the year or so), so will my time outside the country WHILE my application is being processed count for the 6 months? Will that make me ineligible? Your answers are greatly appreciated and any additional info that you think I should know is very much welcome!
**Just adding this in case it would help: I would go to Japan and study under Tourist Visa from January to March. Then I will fly back to the USA, process my Student Visa and go back in April to resume my studies and stay LONG TERM in Japan.**
