Ever since I was a kid, I could hear a dog whistle. I'm in my 30s, and can STILL hear it, even though it supposedly is far above the range of normal human hearing! I've only run into 2 to 4 people who have the same ability, so I thought I'd ask around here on Yahoo.

BTW, when I say "dog whistle", I'm talking about the battery-operated devices (about the size of a garage door remote control) designed help "train" dogs and/or to get dogs to run away and leave you alone. I've never been around the more simple whistles, that you blow with your own mouth, so I don't know if I can hear those or not.

But the battery-operated thingies are SO BAD that I can't even be in the same HOUSE when someone uses one, let alone the same room! :( It's awful! Like stringing metallic dental floss through your ears and then making it vibrate and whine!

Can anyone else hear this? And, do you happen to know how much "higher" than normal that makes my/our hearing ability? Thanks! And WOOF! :)

i feel that the news on tv and on cnn are just showing israel's side of the story..... i think that people need to view both sides of the stories and see for themselves what is actually right and wrong...

I burned a dress shirt with the iron...not much of an ironer...and of course without thinking I forgot to clean the burned stuff off the iron and when I ironed my favorite shorts it got brown/black gunk all over it. Any ideas on how to get it off?

My mother and I have had lots of issues in life since I was about 7 years of age ..no joke! My mother cheated on my father, used me to do it as well. Never loved my father..said really hurtful things to me. Also would physically abused me. She has problems with her temper. I try to get along with her now, but it seems impossible she is so negative. When I see her I feel sad and depressed , sometimes even moody and upset. Any advise please. Thanks

I recently read an article entitled "Beach 101" and it recommended readers find out about the quality of the ocean water at the beach before wandering into it. It didn't explain what could contribute to reducing the water's quality. It also advised readers not to go into ocean water right after it rains. Didn't explain how rain can contribute to reducing the ocean water's quality either. The source for much of the information in this article was supposedly WebMD. My experience with doctors has been that they tell me what to do, but are not big on explaining why, so maybe that's why this article wasn't big on explaining.

Is there anyone out there (beach fans, lifeguards, scientists, yikes-maybe a doctor?) who would like to explain what (under normal circumstances) makes ocean beach water lose it's quality and especially how rain water contributes to reducing the ocean water's quality to the extent that is can be harmful to one's health?
