THe world is so caught up in how one should look and not look, fads, and so on . So does this generation have it harder to "fit in" and be accepted by their peers than previos generations? are peer pressures harder?

Previous generations are not so well off. So they work hard at everything just to get the bare essentials. They study as they know education is vital for a brighter future and they work part time as they need to pay for their education.

Kids this generation face a different battle. The thing is, their parents listen to so-called experts who talked about the learning curve, multiple intelligence, child genuis and all other child development theories that they made children grow up too soon. Kids this generation do not have a childhood. They have an early adulthood. They do not play for the sake of playing. Just because the experts say certain type toys develop certain part of the brain. Parents choose which part of a child's brain is more important than another.

With that, kids skipped several areas of natural development and with some parts of their brains advancely stimulated, other parts are not. Mostly the social emotional part. They filled this void with a sense of belonging to a certain group. That is why they follow fads as they feel that they belong to that particular group of people. tehy do not develop a sense of individuality. Even those goth or punk people whom everyone thought that they are unique. They actually belong to a group.

Peer pressures? I'd blame their parents as peers are their kids' family now.

absolutely. I"m 35 years old, and I believe it is much harder for them now. The peer pressure must be really hard on them. This is one reason why I reccommend mandatory school uniforms
