II have noticed an overwhelming number of questions related to Christians vs. Atheists as opposed to any other group. This seems to be the effect of a straw manned approach, as if these were the only two ethoses that exist. There are plenty of other religions or people who consider themselves spiritual but are not affiliated with any one particular religion that these issues can also address. It almost seems to me that Christians are saying, either you don't believe in God, or you are a Christian. There are plenty of nuanced ideas out there and if some of these people claiming to be atheists would sincerely investigate these alternatives they might not consider themselves atheistic anymore ending the whole false dichotomy altogether.

Let me have your brilliant ideas.

I am an old man, living on my own and I am really suffering from exhaustion, because of the heat wave we are having here in the U.K.

What do you suggest I prepare for my lunch (mid day meal) for tomorrow?

I enjoy cold food (salads), I enjoy hot food, I enjoy curry, in fact I enjoy most things.

BUT what can I have tomorrow, that is really different? Don't suggest chicken in any form.

I would enjoy something really tasty, appetising, colorful (colourful) and not too complicated to cook.

I'm waiting to hear from you.

I'm not saying all Muslims are violent or nutters.. I have friends who are Muslims and I do respect the religion and everything but Osama, D. Ibrahim, M. Mansoor Ali and all terrorist names I hear are Muslim ones. Why do you think this is the way that it is?

Again, I have nothing against Islam or Muslims but I just couldn't help but notice.

You really ignorant Americans, who are too lazy to even read a BOOK, let alone learn another language or read the immigration laws...does any any of you have even the slightest idea that you can't just "apply to be a legal immigrant"?!?
Those laws that allowed a certain quota of skilled people from each country to come legally are no longer valid. You are talkjng about the 60's, now it's 2006!
Now you only have a DV lottery and if you don't win , you can't come as an immigrant under any circumstances ever(OK, only if you are a Nobel prize scientist or an Olympic champion).
Do you even bother to read your own laws before telling people" huh, why don't you do it the legal way?".
! THERE IS NO LEGAL WAY. Not in 2006.
If there was a legal way, noone would be illegal.
Give people a chance before judging them.

Two old ladies are standing at a bus station and one of them is smoking. Suddenly it starts raining so the smoking one takes out a condom from her purse, cuts the edge off and puts it over the cigarette. Her friend asks her: "What are you doing?!?" So she replies: "I don't want my cigarette to get wet so I covered it with a condom"
So her friend asks: "What’s a condom? Where did you get it?" So she says: "At the pharmacy" So the next day her friend goes to the pharmacy and asks the clerk if she can get a condom. The clerk asks: "What size?"
So she replies: "I dunno, one that will fit a camel"

I am a twelve year old girl. I've played the violin for 4 years, and the viola for about 2 and a half. I really enjoy playing them for fun, but I dread practicing. I hate it. I usually do about 20 minutes on each maybe 4 days a week. Sounds 'hard', huh? Yeah, right. I am frustrated with myself that I don't like to practice. I know not many people like to, but still! If someone could give me some suggestions, I would really appreciate it.

Also, is there anyone on Yahoo Answers that is my age (12, or so) that plays either or both of those instruments? Will you contact me if you feel like it? I really enjoy meeting people my age with some of the same interests. (-:

Thanks for your help, everybody! Don't forget, 10 points goes to the person with the best answer, so make it good! Thank you again.

I asked this as a history question. I should have asked all the Jesus freaks as a religious question. - One person even replied "How many Christians did the Romans torture and persecute during the Empire?" which not only implies that the Christian concept of "Turn the other cheek" is bogus, but also that Christians of the Middle Ages were just as evil as the ancient Romans (and also justifiably evil).

2006-07-19 08:01:25 · 2 answers · asked by Paddie101 2 in Cricket

My partner & I have been living together in South Africa for the last 18 months. We have been a couple for the last 4 years but more than half of that time we have been in different countries. Now he is going to study in the USA for one year on an F1 visa and since we are not married, I am ineligible for an F2 dependent visa and therefore I am unable to join him. He says that he does not want to marry to keep the US bureaucrats happy. We had not seriously discussed marriage before this time. Now it seems that I will have to return to my country of birth although I do have a valid visitors' visa which will allow me to visit him during his studies. He wants us to stay as a couple & get back together after 12 months but I refuse to. Should I continue with him even though it seems clear to me that he has no intention of formalising our relationship? Should I trust a person who is obviously willing for us to be separated rather than be married & together? Does he really love me?
