II have noticed an overwhelming number of questions related to Christians vs. Atheists as opposed to any other group. This seems to be the effect of a straw manned approach, as if these were the only two ethoses that exist. There are plenty of other religions or people who consider themselves spiritual but are not affiliated with any one particular religion that these issues can also address. It almost seems to me that Christians are saying, either you don't believe in God, or you are a Christian. There are plenty of nuanced ideas out there and if some of these people claiming to be atheists would sincerely investigate these alternatives they might not consider themselves atheistic anymore ending the whole false dichotomy altogether.

angeltress, I think it has more to do with people from western culture mostly being exposed to Christianity as opposed to other modes of thought. Since this is an English speaking site it seems evident that most are from this culture which has been dominated by Christianity.

i agree with you and have the same experience. Its extremely difficult for my catholic friend to understand that i believe in God but im not a catholic! It seems to me that MOST christians think that their religion is the only one that accepts God. I have an impression that they are the least tolerant towards other religions.

Sorry, but I just had to respond to BrotherMichael.

BrotherMichael, I opted to post here instead of directly to you in the hope that others would read this.

"Sure, there are other philosophies and belief systems, but it doesn't validate them or make them true."

The same holds true for Christianity.

"No other belief system has an answer to the sin issue and how to remedy it."

The "sin issue" is your Christian issue. I have not inherited any sins. I commit my own and repent for my own and no one has to be tortured to death to take away my sins. It's called repsonsibility. Blind faith with no works is no remedy. God did not put us on this Earth to amuse himself. He put us here to Prove ourselves.

"No other belief system offers God's grace to a fallen people."

God's grace is not exclusive to Christianity. If you think so, then you haven't read enough about other religions and you haven't looked deeply enough into the hearts of those who don't consider themselves Christians. This makes me question if your brand of Christianity comes from God, or is a cult.

"Either you are a believer or you are not, either you accept Jesus as the truth, or not. There is no middle ground."

You are right. There is no middle ground. Either you accept responsibility for your own actions or you do not.

BrotherMichael. I'm sorry if I misunderstood anything you said / your beliefs. If I didn't, than everything I said stands.

Sure, there are other philosophies and belief systems, but it doesn't validate them or make them true. Jesus was inclusive, yet exclusive. He said come all who would to Me, yet also said I am the only way to God. You can make up any belief you want, you can worship a tree, a rock, a planet, another god you create in your mind, but it doesn't make it true. There is only one brand of truth. Christian truth is that we are sinners in need of a savior. Jesus is that savior. No other belief system has an answer to the sin issue and how to remedy it. No other belief system offers God's grace to a fallen people. Either you are a believer or you are not, either you accept Jesus as the truth, or not. There is no middle ground.

Yes, Christians believe that there is only One God.
And, for some reason, He is the God atheists are trying hardest to throw down.
I guess the rest of you will just have to wait your turn.

it is the e book (singular-one) of Genesis--no longer the books (plural-2 or extra). If it is un-biblical, then why is it contained in the Bible? stupid notions? Google the probabilities of evolution being genuine & achievable. the probabilities hostile to it being possible are enormous to say the least. No evidence of introduction? No evidence of evolution both or maybe a lot less likely.
