What punishment will work?

I told my thirteen year old son today that he needed to "break up" with his "girlfriend" because he has started to get completely fixated on this girl, and thats fine for a 25 year old but he is only thirteen...but he had a complete tantrum and was slamming doors and Im not going to put up with that, but I have run out of punishments and I think that taking privelages away will just make him go even more crazy....any ideas?

How do i find the right person for my 2 year old?

I have daycare set up, but sometimes day care isn't an option if other children are sick or if the child is somewhat sick. I need a back up sitter but i have no clue how to go about it and i am tight on money too!

Clogged sink?

NASTYYYYY!!!! My sink gets clogged every now and then, I usually use drano. This time around, I tried and it didn't work very well. Draining was still pretty slow, so I tried the old fashioned vinegar and baking soda which worked for a while but now my sink is slow once again.

I just tried the plunger and this gross slimey looking stuff was coming out of the drain, yuck! Does anyone know what it is? Guess I have to call the plumber :(

Why do atheists argue their side if there is no greater purpose?

Doesn't science say that your thoughts are nothing more than biochemical processes, so whatever you think or feel is essentially meaningless, and has no basis in objective reality. If you so strongly defend Darwinism, why can't you apply it to your own lives, and just accept that there is no purpose beyond survival of the species instead of pretending that you're here for some purpose.

Have a dilemma, can I get some opinions please?

My kids and I are going camping this weekend. My sister in law and her2 kids want to go, but I don't want them to. They went with us last weekend, and she is going to jail for 25 days on Tuesday, during which time I will have her kids. I told her she and the kids could not go this weekend because I wanted to have a weekend for just my girls and I. She is really upset with me now because she really wanted to go. Did I do the right thing, or am I being selfish. Should I feel obligated to share my little vacation,(which by the way I paid for the site, the food, supplies and everything for her and her kids to go last weekend, and would have to do the same again, and I am a single mom too) or is it OK for me to be a little selfish and want some time for my family? What do you think?

If you are at 6000 feet in elevation and you get a bottle and collect the thin air from that elevation in an air tight bottle and then go down to a 1000 foot elevation where the air is thick and warmer, would the air in the bottle be cooler because there is less pressure in it and less kinetic energy or would it be the same temperature as the outside air at 1000 feet?

What are we going to do about the gas prices?

How can we even get to work if they keep going up? Will our children be able to buy gas to drive to a job they get right out of high school? Maybe family members should get big homes and keep everyone together so they can share expenses and rides?

Is anyone else tired of their life?

I feel like the my path to enlightenment is going nowhere, and that was my last hope. Everything else sucks, no job, I have no friends/we dont talk any more, just my imagination and hope. What sucks is that I have these dreams about different parellels of my life. Even my subconcious know that I have made a mess of what could have been a good, fun life. At different points I had good things going for me. But now, this misery I feel is masked with a thin linning of hope, but man it is getting tougher and tougher to breathe...well sorry for the rant, but if you have any ideals/suggestions let me know. I need more than a bible verse.

Can I Transfer from a Community College to a Top School Like Harvard?

I'm moving to the US and I've always wanted to go to Harvard, Berkeley or Columbia...But since I dont have that kind of money right away I'm thinking about going to a community college just to get the used to studing methods and stuff and then after a year transfering to a TOP school like Harvard or Columbia...
My question is...Even having a community college background will they accept me into college? What do I need to do to get into?
Do I have to take the SAT?
My grades are not bad but Im not a straight "A" student either...so that's why I thought about community college to prepare myself a little bit more...And I dont really want a AA dregree...So What are the odds of me getting into a top school?

how can we fic our societies youth?

I don't like the way our societies youth has become. One of the reason is because they are having sex to young! I am 16 and I think its not right, but am i the only one who thinks this way? Just because your body is ready to have sex doesn't mean you should do it! I think that teens shouldn't be involved with drugs or alchohal either. Its not a magic fun drink! that stuffs dangerouse! Am I the only teen who thinks that other teens are doing moronic things? What ever happened to morals?! you know those special set of rules we follow because we beleive that its right? how did our society get like this? morals lets us keep our dignity but without morals doesn't that just make us apes?

Is my friend being abusive or manpulative should I stop being her friend?

Here is the problem, I only have two really good girlfriends. One is 27 and the other is 33 yrs old. The 33 year old is my best friend but, she used to be friends with the 27 yr old before she knew me.
Now, the 33 year old doesn't like the 27 year old anymore because she does not make good choices. She goes to sleazy bars and picks up on 50-60 year old men. And, she has dragged me along but, I do not go anymore I thought it was tacky. Here is the problem the 27 year old has a best friend and they rarely invite me to go out to concerts, etc. So, I usually hang out with these two friends separatively. The 27 year old is angry at me because I did not invite her to a play. You see, I do not drive and my 33 year old friend does. And, I had to see this play for a college class. And, I had to buy the tickets immediatley like the first day of class. I did not invite her because she works full time. So, she told me '' I guess you did not want me to go and hang up on me. Is this abusive?

My 16 year old cat will probably not live too much longer...?

She's in great health right now, but I know the end is coming. I can't imagine my life without her. I've had her since high school. Would it be wrong to have her stuffed so I can keep her close to me always? Or if that's bad, would it be wrong to have her cremated so I can keep her ashes?
