I don't need some smart *** answer about "be who you are...why do you have them if you care what people think...blah blah."
I just want to get some opinions, get an idea of what goes through your head when you see a person with those things. Im just curious, because it's hard to view myself from an outsiders eyes.
Some family members were trying to explain to me what they thought when they saw a peirced or tattoo'd person and I just couldn't make sense of their perspective. They told me that to them, such things send a message of "Im tough, **** off." But I'm not "tough" nor do I want people to "**** off". So just for the sake of my curiosity, let me know your opinion, do pericings/tattoo's send a particular message to you?

i know that i am of age that i should not be living in my parents house, but i'm broke in a nutshell. i am 22 yrs. old and my brother is staying with us from college. he is 25 yrs. old. my parents doesnt allow me to date anyone without them knowing them first, but my brother can meet a girl, never introduce her to our parents, bring her home, and let her spend the night? maybe there is something i'm not getting.

i ask that any comment pertaining to i should move out not be left. i am broke a$$ $H!t and i cant afford to move.

I hardly hear from family or anybody. I'm in Iraq, a soldier in the Army, all by myself, depressed. My Army unit doesn't talk to me at all. I read my Bible a lot and pray several times a day. It keeps me strong. I still feel so lonely sometimes and it seems nobody cares. I'm always by myself, frankly because I don't fit in with most clicks or groups. I'm strong in spirit because of the grace of God. It's extremely tough to get through with life sometimes when you feel all alone at times. I know that with God I am never alone, but everyone needs friends though. How do I seem more friendly without having to change who I am to fit in?

I've recently just got back from a trip which took in a number of West African countries, and saw first hand the effects of some of the highest rates of poverty and corruption in the world. However, what I also saw was that they are some of the friendliest and happy people i've ever met, and i've been to quite a few countries around the world. I think this is a direct result of the consumerist, green eyed monster culture that we are all addicted to, and until others can experience 'life on the other side' like I have then I can only see our western culture getting worse and worse. Get this - I am a qualified teacher, and have taught at a number of schools as a supply teacher in 'western' schools. 90% of the time kids walk out of the classroom like it's their right, refuse to work and tell you they are going to tell their parents to complain at the school for them getting a detention. Go to Africa, and kids are desperately trying to break in to schools. What are your thoughts on this? C

By "Christian," I am referring to Pat Robertson, "God did it," bible thumping fundamentalists who claim they talk directly to God, and, he, in turn, talks to them.

If you have a direct pipeline to God, why bother going to school? Can't God teach you everything you need to know?

Isn't going to school demonstrating lack of faith?
