I'm new to the whole moving experience...(yikes!). Yeah. How can I properly research an area in order to make an informed decision? What kinds of questions should I be asking about communities I'm considering for relocation?

looking for someone who has lived in both cities. I like Madison but have outgrown it and looking for a similar yet bigger place. I hate WI winters, the cold and snow! but i also dislike rain! i dont like the winters moreso though. Looking for comparison in ALL aspects! (i'm a liberal funky hipster nerdy 34 year old girl)

I've been as far south as Albany O.R. looking for a place to live. I work construction and my wife is a nurse so I was wondering if this is a good area to raise a couple of kids and a safe place to live? I just wondering if any one can tell me about this area?

I will be travelling around Oregon for about two weeks flying in from NY. Spending the first 2 days in Portland. Is it easy to get around Portland without a car, or should I rent the car at the airport for the entire trip?

If you did in fact have one...My three year old and I played in the snow, ( while it was snowing, it was beautiful!) drank hot chocolate, watched a movie, made a fire...you know- all the lazy "mother nature made us take a day off" things that any other time you might feel guilty for doing. ( or at least all in the same day!)

You?

My wife and I were discussing weather in Portland Oregon.I lived there for two year of my life. The most pleasant awesome weather anyone could ask for..During the day in summer around 72 low at night 40ish..It was hot for one week those two years and that was mid 80's to lower 90's but very limited..In the winter it was about 59's during the day and maybe low 30's at night.. I have researched and researched but its better to go to someone that knows.I am under the impression with the exception of the last few years it really stays very nice weather and very comfortable most of the time there. No need for air condition or barely a need for heat..Now this is just my thoughts on it and according to the research that I have accumulated my concept of Portand is like I perceived it to be.. If I am making an incorrect assumption here please let me know. Please be someone that has lived there all there life or grew up there ..thanks..

Is there a website that allows me to look at propertis (lots) and houses that are less than $200,000? If there is, what is it? What is a city that is located high up on Mt. Hood? Or a name of a group of houses, a town, or something! I'm going CRAZY trying to find one.
