Portland is a great place to live. You have the mountains, rivers lakes all real close. It does rain alot. The traffic can be nasty, but if you live in the suburbs of Portland it is great. I myself live in Vancouver WA, which is about 10 minutes from downtown Portland. I have lived here all my life. I love WA, and Ore because it is very clean and there are lots of things to do. Houses are cheaper in WA, and the schools are better here. But if you live in Oregon you don't have to pay sales tax. But their property taxes are alot higher. The weather can change in an instant. One day it might be 70 and the next day drop to 50. The Gorge and the beaches are my favorite places cause they are so beautiful and so clean. Good Luck to you. You should look up Portland on the web and get some good info.

People are nice. There is plenty to do. Concert in parks during summer are fun. Area is really green in color and that is good too. Portland is close to the coast and transit system is very good. You need to be open.. Oregon has a pretty diverse group of people. Expect the unexpected. We can surprise you. Good luck with your decision. Cons I'm sure you miss home, but Internet is always handy.

If you don't like 8 months of constant grey skies and intermittent drizzle, do NOT live here. We're tired of people moving here during the great summer weather and then complaining ALL WINTER about the rain, as if it comes as some sort of surprise.
