I am considering a move to Anchorage but we will be completely on our own since we have no family there or do not know anyone. I was wondering if it is pretty safe to make this kind of move and if there is a particular part of Anchorage that is better than the rest of Anchorage?

I live in Rutherford County and have a date for New Years Eve. I would like to go to a New Years Eve party or celebration anywhere between Charlotte and Asheville. South Carolina isnt out of the question, say around the Spartanburg area.

Which states do you find to be kindest and most decent? Most religious?

I think people in Oregon are quite nice (though VERY unreligious). New Yorkers are also, surprisingly, pretty kind and helpful. The Midwest is notoriously good-natured--and I think Indiana is one of the most decent around.

I live in Colorado and while we are very religious and pretty friendly, I don't know whether or not we are the nicest. Any thoughts?

Which state is better for me (+roomate) to relocate to at 18? I know Cali is wayyy more expensive, but does higher pay make up for it? I'm looking at San Fran., California and Orlando, FL, but I'm flexible. Can anyone tell me the best (low crime, cheaper rent, etc) cities in each state for a young renter? As for careers, I haven't decided and my roomate is probably going to be a carpet installer (please don't think of this as ghetto, lol). So, which state is better overall, which cities? Any extra info is also greatly wanted!
